⁶ Then the woman came and told her husband, saying: 'A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of the angel of God, very terrible; and I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name;

¹⁶ And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said: 'Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.' ¹⁷ And he was afraid, and said: 'How full of awe is this place! this is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.'

²⁹ (32:30) And Jacob asked him, and said: 'Tell me, I pray thee, thy name.' And he said: 'Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name?' And he blessed him there.

² And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

⁶ Moreover He said: 'I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

¹⁷ And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD: 'What is thy name, that when thy words come to pass we may do thee honour?' ¹⁸ And the angel of the LORD said unto him: 'Wherefore askest thou after my name, seeing it is hidden?'

²² And Manoah said unto his wife: 'We shall surely die, because we have seen God.'

²⁴ And the woman said to Elijah: 'Now I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.'

⁹ And she said unto her husband: 'Behold now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God, that passeth by us continually.

¹⁶ And he said: 'At this season, when the time cometh round, thou shalt embrace a son.' And she said: 'Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thy handmaid.'

¹⁷ So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was terrified, and fell upon my face; but he said unto me: 'Understand, O son of man; for the vision belongeth to the time of the end.'

⁵ I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz;

¹¹ And he said unto me: 'O Daniel, thou man greatly beloved, give heed unto the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright; for now am I sent unto thee'; and when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.

³ His appearance was as lightning, and his raiment white as snow: ⁴ and for fear of him the watchers did quake, and became as dead men.

¹⁹ And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak unto thee, and to bring thee these good tidings.

²⁹ And as he was praying, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment became white and dazzling.

¹⁵ And all that sat in the council, fastening their eyes on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
