Be strong and of good courage; be not affrighted, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.' ¹⁰ Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying: ¹¹ 'Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying: Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.' ¹² And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, spoke Joshua, saying: ¹³ 'Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, you, saying: The LORD your God giveth you rest, and will give you this land. ¹⁴ Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall abide in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan; but ye shall pass over before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and shall help them; ¹⁵ until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as unto you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them; then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrising.' ¹⁶ And they answered Joshua, saying: 'All that thou hast commanded us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us we will go. ¹⁷ According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee; only the LORD thy God be with thee, as He was with Moses. ¹⁸ Whosoever he be that shall rebel against thy commandment, and shall not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death; only be strong and of good courage.'

³ Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore unto Abraham thy father;

²³ And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD spoke by the hand of Moses.

Moreover when Joshua sent them away unto their tents, he blessed them, ⁸ and spoke unto them, saying: 'Return with much wealth unto your tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much raiment; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.' ⁹ And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go unto the land of Gilead, to the land of their possession, whereof they were possessed, according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

⁵ 'Return, and say to Hezekiah the prince of My people: Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father: I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears; behold, I will heal thee; on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.

⁹ and eastward he dwelt even unto the entrance of the wilderness from the river Euphrates; because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.

³ And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah by Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion at the river Euphrates.

¹³ Then shalt thou prosper, if thou observe to do the statutes and the ordinances which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel; be strong, and of good courage; fear not, neither be dismayed.

¹⁰ Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong, and do it.'

²⁰ And David said to Solomon his son: 'Be strong and of good courage, and do it; fear not, nor be dismayed; for the LORD God, even my God, is with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD be finished.

⁷ 'Be strong and of good courage, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him; for there is a Greater with us than with him: ⁸ with him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles.' And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

⁴ Arise; for the matter belongeth unto thee, and we are with thee; be of good courage, and do it.'

¹ Happy is the man that hath not walked in the counsel of the wicked, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the seat of the scornful. ² But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in His law doth he meditate day and night. ³ And he shall be like a tree planted by streams of water, that bringeth forth its fruit in its season, and whose leaf doth not wither; and in whatsoever he doeth he shall prosper.

¹ Why are the nations in an uproar? And why do the peoples mutter in vain? ² The kings of the earth stand up, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed: ³ 'Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.' ⁴ He that sitteth in heaven laugheth, the Lord hath them in derision. ⁵ Then will He speak unto them in His wrath, and affright them in His sore displeasure: ⁶ 'Truly it is I that have established My king upon Zion, My holy mountain.'

¹ A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ² When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, even mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

¹⁴ Wait on the LORD; be strong, and let thy heart take courage; yea, wait thou for the LORD.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, and his tongue speaketh justice. ³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps slide.

¹¹ Thy word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee.

⁹ Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets that were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, even the temple, that it might be built.

²¹ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.

²⁴ Every one therefore that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock;

²⁸ But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

³⁶ For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: ³⁷ but he whom God raised up saw no corruption.

⁹ And the Lord said unto Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak and hold not thy peace; ¹⁰ for I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to harm thee; for I have much people in this city.

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

³⁷ Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

¹ Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers; for there is no power but of God, and the powers that be are ordained of God. ² Therefore he that resisteth the power, withstandeth the ordinance of God; and they that withstand shall receive to themselves judgment. ³ For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. And wouldest thou have no fear of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise from the same: ⁴ for he is a minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid, for he beareth not the sword in vain; for he is a minister of God, an avenger for wrath to him that doeth evil. ⁵ Wherefore ye must needs be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience' sake.

²⁶ And whether one member suffereth, all the members suffer with it, or one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

⁵ doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not provoked, taketh not account of evil,

¹³ Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

¹³ For ye, brethren, were called for freedom, only use not your freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through love be servants one to another.

² Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

²⁹ Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for edifying as the need may be, that it may give grace to them that hear.

¹⁰ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.

²¹ For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. ²² But if to live in the flesh,—if this shall bring fruit from my work, then what I shall choose I know not. ²³ But I am in a strait betwixt the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for it is very far better: ²⁴ yet to abide in the flesh is more needful for your sake. ²⁵ And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide, yea, and abide with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, ²⁶ that your glorying may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.

⁴ not looking each of you to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto the Lord.

¹ I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men, ² for kings and all that are in high place, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity.

¹⁴ Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. ¹⁵ Be diligent in these things, give thyself wholly to them, that thy progress may be manifest unto all. ¹⁶ Take heed to thyself, and to thy teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this thou shalt save both thyself and them that hear thee.

¹ Put them in mind to be in subjection to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready unto every good work,

⁵ And Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were afterward to be spoken, ⁶ but Christ as a son, over his house, whose house are we, if we hold fast our boldness and the glorying of our hope firm unto the end.

²³ And they indeed have been made priests many in number, because that by death they are hindered from continuing: ²⁴ but he, because he abideth for ever, hath his priesthood unchangeable.

²⁸ A man that hath set at nought Moses law dieth without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses: ²⁹ of how much sorer punishment, think ye, shall he be judged worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

²⁵ See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not when they refused him that warned them on earth, much more shall not we escape who turn away from him that warneth from heaven:

⁵ Be ye free from the love of money, content with such things as ye have; for himself hath said, I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee.

²² But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves. ²³ For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror: ²⁴ for he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. ²⁵ But he that looketh into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and so continueth, he being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.
