²¹ He said therefore again unto them, I go away, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin; whither I go, ye cannot come.

¹⁰ As the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee; and when they said: He is not here, he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.

¹⁶ And they said unto him: 'Behold now, there are with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master; lest peradventure the spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley.' And he said: 'Ye shall not send.' ¹⁷ And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said: 'Send.' They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.

¹¹ His bones are full of his youth, but it shall lie down with him in the dust.

¹⁸ Surely Thou settest them in slippery places; Thou hurlest them down to utter ruin. ¹⁹ How are they become a desolation in a moment! They are wholly consumed by terrors. ²⁰ As a dream when one awaketh, so, O Lord, when Thou arousest Thyself, Thou wilt despise their semblance.

⁷ When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish, and the hope of strength perisheth.

³² The wicked is thrust down in his misfortune; but the righteous, even when he is brought to death, hath hope.

²⁰ There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man, that hath not filled his days; for the youngest shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner being a hundred years old shall be accursed.

¹⁸ When I say unto the wicked: Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at thy hand. ¹⁹ Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

³⁹ For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

²³ Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Here, believe it not. ²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

⁴¹ Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;

⁴⁶ And these shall go away into eternal punishment; but the righteous into eternal life.

²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels into Abraham's bosom; and the rich man also died, and was buried. ²³ And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things; but now here he is comforted, and thou art in anguish. ²⁶ And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they that would pass from hence to you may not be able, and that none may cross over from thence to us.

³⁴ Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me; and where I am, ye cannot come.

²⁴ I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins; for except ye believe that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

³³ But this he said, signifying by what manner of death he should die.

³⁵ Jesus therefore said unto them, Yet a little while is the light among you. Walk while ye have the light, that darkness overtake you not; and he that walketh in the darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me; and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come, so now I say unto you.

¹⁷ and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain, ye are yet in your sins. ¹⁸ Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
