⁷ Lo, let that night be desolate; let no joyful voice come therein.

²⁰ It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation; neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. ²¹ But wild-cats shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of ferrets; and ostriches shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. ²² And jackals shall howl in their castles, and wild-dogs in the pleasant palaces; and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

⁸ The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.

³⁴ Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land shall be desolate.

²² And the voice of harpers and minstrels and flute-players and trumpeters shall be heard no more at all in thee, and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft, shall be found any more at all in thee, and the voice of a mill shall be heard no more at all in thee, ²³ and the light of a lamp shall shine no more at all in thee, and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee; for thy merchants were the princes of the earth, for with thy sorcery were all the nations deceived.
