¹¹ And Moses said unto God: 'Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?'

¹⁰ And Moses said unto the LORD: 'Oh Lord, I am not a man of words, neither heretofore, nor since Thou hast spoken unto Thy servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.' ¹¹ And the LORD said unto him: 'Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh a man dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? is it not I the LORD? ¹² Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt speak.' ¹³ And he said: 'Oh Lord, send, I pray Thee, by the hand of him whom Thou wilt send.'

¹² And Moses spoke before the LORD, saying: 'Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?'

¹⁸ And David said unto Saul: 'Who am I, and what is my life, or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?'

¹⁸ Then David the king went in, and sat before the LORD; and he said: 'Who am I, O Lord GOD, and what is my house, that Thou hast brought me thus far?

⁷ And now, O LORD my God, Thou hast made Thy servant king instead of David my father; and I am but a little child; I know not how to go out or come in.

⁹ Give Thy servant therefore an understanding heart to judge Thy people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this Thy great people?'

⁵ Then said I: Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. ⁶ Then flew unto me one of the seraphim, with a glowing stone in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar; ⁷ and he touched my mouth with it, and said: Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin expiated. ⁸ And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said: 'Here am I; send me.'

⁶ Then said I: 'Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak; for I am a child.'

²³ But when he was well-nigh forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel. ²⁴ And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, smiting the Egyptian: ²⁵ and he supposed that his brethren understood that God by his hand was giving them deliverance, but they understood not.

¹⁶ to the one a savor from death unto death, to the other a savor from life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

⁵ not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to account anything as from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,
