¹¹ Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do; and, behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was no profit under the sun.

³¹ And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

⁴³ And Moses saw all the work, and, behold, they had done it; as the LORD had commanded, even so had they done it. And Moses blessed them.

³ What profit hath man of all his labour wherein he laboureth under the sun?

¹⁴ I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.

¹⁷ So I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun was grievous unto me; for all is vanity and a striving after wind. ¹⁸ And I hated all my labour wherein I laboured under the sun, seeing that I must leave it unto the man that shall be after me. ¹⁹ And who knoweth whether he will be a wise man or a fool? yet will he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity. ²⁰ Therefore I turned about to cause my heart to despair concerning all the labour wherein I had laboured under the sun. ²¹ For there is a man whose labour is with wisdom, and with knowledge, and with skill; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil. ²² For what hath a man of all his labour, and of the striving of his heart, wherein he laboureth under the sun? ²³ For all his days are pains, and his occupation vexation; yea, even in the night his heart taketh not rest. This also is vanity.

¹³ Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the peoples labour for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain:

¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. ¹⁷ And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof; but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
