¹³ And the LORD will make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if thou shalt hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them;

¹⁸ And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also, even his enemies, shall be a possession; while Israel doeth valiantly. ¹⁹ And out of Jacob shall one have dominion, and shall destroy the remnant from the city.

⁶ Observe therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, that, when they hear all these statutes, shall say: 'Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.' ⁷ For what great nation is there, that hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is whensoever we call upon Him? ⁸ And what great nation is there, that hath statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day? ⁹ Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes saw, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life; but make them known unto thy children and thy children's children;

¹ And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all His commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all the nations of the earth.

¹⁴ (9:13) Therefore the LORD doth cut off from Israel head and tail, palm-branch and rush, in one day. ¹⁵ (9:14) The elder and the man of rank, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.

²⁷ Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ; that, whether I come and see you or be absent, I may hear of your state, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the gospel,
