³¹ And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying: 'Israel shall be thy name.'

²⁸ (32:29) And he said: 'Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel; for thou hast striven with God and with men, and hast prevailed.'

²⁰ And he erected there an altar, and called it El-elohe-Israel.

¹⁰ And God said unto him: 'Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name'; and He called his name Israel.

⁴ And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the mount, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

³ and command ye them, saying: Take you hence out of the midst of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood, twelve stones made ready, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the lodging-place, where ye shall lodge this night.' ⁴ Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man;

²⁰ And those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, did Joshua set up in Gilgal.

³⁴ Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law or after the commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom He named Israel;

¹⁷ And they offered at the dedication of this house of God a hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin-offering for all Israel, twelve he-goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

¹ Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the fountain of Judah; who swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

¹ At that time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people.

¹⁶ 'And thou, son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it: For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions; then take another stick, and write upon it: For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and of all the house of Israel his companions; ¹⁷ and join them for thee one to another into one stick, that they may become one in thy hand. ¹⁸ And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying: Wilt thou not tell us what thou meanest by these? ¹⁹ say into them: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions; and I will put them unto him together with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in My hand. ²⁰ And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thy hand before their eyes. ²¹ And say unto them: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, whither they are gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land; ²² and I will make them one nation in the land, upon the mountains of Israel, and one king shall be king to them all; and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all;

¹³ Thus saith the Lord GOD: 'This shall be the border, whereby ye shall divide the land for inheritance according to the twelve tribes of Israel, Joseph receiving two portions.

²⁰ being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief corner stone,

⁴ There is one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling, ⁵ one Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶ one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.

⁴ And I heard the number of them that were sealed, a hundred and forty and four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the children of Israel: ⁵ Of the tribe of Judah were sealed twelve thousand; Of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand, Of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand, ⁶ Of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand, Of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand, Of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand, ⁷ Of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand, Of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand, Of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand, ⁸ Of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand, Of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand, Of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand.
