¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself: 'Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a calf untrained; turn thou me, and I shall be turned, for Thou art the LORD my God. ¹⁹ Surely after that I was turned, I repented, and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh; I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.' ²⁰ Is Ephraim a darling son unto Me? Is he a child that is dandled? For as often as I speak of him, I do earnestly remember him still; Therefore My heart yearneth for him, I will surely have compassion upon him, saith the LORD.

¹⁸ I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight; ¹⁹ I am no more worthy to be called your son; make me as one of thy hired servants. ²⁰ And he arose, and came to his father. But while he was yet afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

²⁸ But let a man prove himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup.

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

⁵ Remember therefore whence thou art fallen, and repent and do the first works, or else I come unto thee quickly, and will move thy candlestick out of its place, except thou repent.

² Be thou watchful, and establish the things that remain, which thou wast about to cast away; for I have found no works of thine perfected before my God. ³ Remember therefore how thou hast received and didst hear, and keep it, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come upon thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
