⁵ Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?

⁵ “Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf unblocked; ⁶ then the lame will leap like deer, and the tongues of speechless people will sing for joy. Yes, waters will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams will run through the desert;

⁹ “Which is easier: to say to the paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Get up, pick up your mat, and walk’? ¹⁰ But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins…” Then he told the paralyzed man, ¹¹ “I say to you, get up, pick up your mat, and go home!” ¹² So the man got up, immediately picked up his mat, and went out in front of all of them.
As a result, all of the people were amazed and began to glorify God as they kept on saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”

²³ Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? ²⁴ But so you’ll know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins….” he told the paralyzed man, “I say to you: Get up, pick up your stretcher, and go home!” ²⁵ So the man immediately stood up in front of them and picked up what he had been lying on. Then he went home, praising God.

⁸ Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” ⁹ The man immediately became well, and he picked up his mat and started walking. Now that day was a Sabbath.
¹⁰ So the Jewish leaders told the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to carry your mat.
¹¹ But he answered them, “The man who made me well told me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’”
¹² They asked him, “Who is the man who told you, ‘Pick it up and walk’?”
¹³ But the one who had been healed did not know who it was, because Jesus had slipped away from the crowd in that place. ¹⁴ Later on, Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Look! You have become well. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”

¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I, too, am working.” ¹⁸ So the Jewish leaders were trying all the harder to kill him, because he was not only breaking the Sabbath but was also calling God his own Father, thereby making himself equal to God.

⁶ However, Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold, but I’ll give you what I do have. In the name of Jesus the Messiah from Nazareth, walk!” ⁷ Then Peter took hold of his right hand and began to help him up. Immediately his feet and ankles became strong, ⁸ and he sprang to his feet, stood up, and began to walk. Then he went with them into the Temple, walking, jumping, and praising God.
⁹ When all the people saw him walking and praising God, ¹⁰ they knew that he was the man who used to sit and beg at the Beautiful Gate of the Temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
¹¹ Peter Speaks to the OnlookersWhile he was holding on to Peter and John, all the people came running to them in what was called “Solomon’s Colonnade”. They were dumbfounded.

¹⁶ It is his name—that is, by faith in his name—that has healed this man whom you see and know. Yes, the faith that comes through Jesus has given him this perfect health in the presence of all of you.

⁹ If we are being questioned today for a good deed done for someone who was sick or to learn how this man was healed, ¹⁰ you and all the people of Israel must understand that this man stands healthy before you because of the name of Jesus from Nazareth, whom you crucified, but whom God raised from the dead.

³⁴ Peter told him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Messiah is healing you. Get up and put away your mat!” At once he got up,

⁸ Paul and Barnabas in LystraNow in Lystra there was a man sitting down who couldn’t use his feet. He had been crippled from birth and had never walked. ⁹ He was listening to Paul as he spoke. Paul watched him closely, and when he saw that he had faith to be healed, ¹⁰ he said in a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” Then the man jumped up and began to walk.
¹¹ When the crowds saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have become like men and have come down to us!”
