¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world was made through him. Yet the world did not recognize him.

⁶ The LORD said, “Look! They are one people with the same language for all of them, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. Nothing that they have a mind to do will be impossible for them! ⁷ Come on! Let’s go down there and confuse their language, so that they won’t understand each other’s speech.”
⁸ So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the surface of the whole earth, so that they had to stop building the city. ⁹ Therefore it was called Babylon, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth, and from there the LORD scattered them over the surface of the entire earth.

¹³ So she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “You are ‘God who sees,’ because I have truly seen the one who looks after me.”

¹ God Appears to AbramWhen Abram was 99 years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and announced, “I am God Almighty. Live in constant awareness that I’m always with you, and be blameless.

³³ As soon as he finished talking to Abraham, the LORD left and Abraham returned to where he had been sitting.

⁴ When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from the center of the bush, “Moses! Moses!”
He said, “Here I am.”
⁵ “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Remove your sandals from your feet, because the place where you are standing is holy ground.” ⁶ Then he said, “I am the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

¹¹ Tell this to them: “The gods who didn’t make the heavens and the earth will perish from the earth and from these heavens.”
¹² A Hymn of Praise to GodThe LORD is the one who made the world by his power, who established the earth by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding.

²⁷ All things have been entrusted to me by my Father. No one fully knows the Son except the Father, and no one fully knows the Father except the Son and the person to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

⁵ And the light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out.

¹⁸ No one has ever seen God. The unique God, who is close to the Father’s side, has revealed him.

¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I, too, am working.”

²⁵ “Righteous Father, the world has never known you. Yet I have known you, and these men have known that you sent me.

¹⁷ yet he has not abandoned his witness: he continues to do good, to give you rain from heaven, to give you fruitful seasons, and to fill you with food and your hearts with joy.”

²⁴ The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth. He doesn’t live in shrines made by human hands, ²⁵ and he isn’t served by people as if he needed anything. He himself gives everyone life, breath, and everything else. ²⁶ From one man he made every nation of humanity to live all over the earth, fixing the seasons of the year and the national boundaries within which they live, ²⁷ so that they might look for God, somehow reach for him, and find him. Of course, he is never far from any one of us.

²¹ For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased to save those who believe through the nonsense of our preaching.

⁸ None of the rulers of this world understood it, because if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

² has in these last days spoken to us by a Son whom he appointed to be the heir of everything and through whom he also made the universe. ³ He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact likeness of his being, and he holds everything together by his powerful word. After he had provided a cleansing from sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Highest Majesty

³ By faith we understand that time was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are invisible.

¹ We are God’s ChildrenSee what kind of love the Father has given us: We are called God’s children—and that is what we are! For this reason the world does not recognize us, because it did not recognize him, either.
