¹⁶ He is to speak to the people for you as your spokesman and you are to act in the role of God for him.

⁷ Why do you speak falsely on God’s behalf and speak deceitfully about him? ⁸ Will you show partiality to him? Will you plead God’s case?

³ Bear with me and let me speak! Then, after I’ve spoken, you’ll be free to mock me.

⁶ Look! As far as God is concerned, I’m just like you are— I, too, have been pinched off from a piece of clay.

³¹ Elihu Invites Job to Respond“Job, pay attention! Listen to me! Be silent and let me speak. ³² If you have anything to say, answer me; speak up, because I’d be happy to vindicate you. ³³ But if you have nothing to say, then at least listen to me! Be quiet and learn some wisdom from me.”

¹⁹ Therefore, this is what the LORD says: “If you repent, I’ll take you back and you will stand before me. If you speak what is worthwhile, instead of what is worthless, then you will be my spokesman. People will turn to you, but you aren’t to turn to them.

⁷ You are to tell them whatever I have to say to them, whether they listen or not, since they are rebellious.”

²⁰ Therefore, we are the Messiah’s representatives, as though God were pleading through us. We plead on the Messiah’s behalf: “Be reconciled to God!”
