¹⁰ David Dies and Solomon Consolidates His Reign
After this, David died, as had his ancestors, and he was buried in the City of David.

⁷ Even so, David captured the stronghold of Zion, which is now known as the City of David.

Later, Solomon intermarried with the family of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt by taking his daughter and bringing her to the City of David to live until he had completed building his own palace, the LORD’s Temple, and the wall around Jerusalem.

⁴³ Then Solomon died, as had his ancestors, and he was buried in the city of his father David. His son Rehoboam reigned in his place.

⁷ David occupied the fortress, so it was named the City of David after him.
