1 Samuel 11:1-11

1 H5927 ויעל came up, H5176 נחשׁ Then Nahash H5984 העמוני the Ammonite H2583 ויחן and encamped H5921 על against H3003 יבשׁ of Jabesh H1568 גלעד H559 ויאמרו said H3605 כל and all H376 אנשׁי the men H3003 יבישׁ H413 אל unto H5176 נחשׁ Nahash, H3772 כרת Make H1285 לנו ברית a covenant H5647 ונעבדך׃ with us, and we will serve

2 H559 ויאמר answered H413 אליהם answered H5176 נחשׁ And Nahash H5984 העמוני the Ammonite H2063 בזאת them, On this H3772 אכרת will I make H5365 לכם בנקור with you, that I may thrust out H3605 לכם כל all H5869 עין eyes, H3225 ימין your right H7760 ושׂמתיה and lay H2781 חרפה it a reproach H5921 על upon H3605 כל all H3478 ישׂראל׃ Israel.

3 H559 ויאמרו said H413 אליו unto H2205 זקני And the elders H3003 יבישׁ of Jabesh H7503 הרף respite, H7651 לנו שׁבעת him, Give us seven H3117 ימים days' H7971 ונשׁלחה that we may send H4397 מלאכים messengers H3605 בכל unto all H1366 גבול the coasts H3478 ישׂראל of Israel: H518 ואם and then, if H369 אין no man H3467 מושׁיע to save H853 אתנו H3318 ויצאנו us, we will come out H413 אליך׃ to

4 H935 ויבאו Then came H4397 המלאכים the messengers H1390 גבעת to Gibeah H7586 שׁאול of Saul, H1696 וידברו and told H1697 הדברים the tidings H241 באזני in the ears H5971 העם of the people: H5375 וישׂאו lifted up H3605 כל and all H5971 העם the people H853 את H6963 קולם their voices, H1058 ויבכו׃ and wept.

5 H2009 והנה And, behold, H7586 שׁאול Saul H935 בא came H310 אחרי after H1241 הבקר the herd H4480 מן out of H7704 השׂדה the field; H559 ויאמר said, H7586 שׁאול and Saul H4100 מה What H5971 לעם the people H3588 כי that H1058 יבכו they weep? H5608 ויספרו And they told H853 לו את H1697 דברי him the tidings H582 אנשׁי H3003 יבישׁ׃ of Jabesh.

6 H6743 ותצלח came H7307 רוח And the Spirit H430 אלהים of God H5921 על upon H7586 שׁאול Saul H8085 בשׁמעו when he heard H853 את H1697 הדברים tidings, H428 האלה those H2734 ויחר was kindled H639 אפו and his anger H3966 מאד׃ greatly.

7 H3947 ויקח And he took H6776 צמד a yoke H1241 בקר of oxen, H5408 וינתחהו and hewed them in pieces, H7971 וישׁלח and sent H3605 בכל throughout all H1366 גבול the coasts H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H3027 ביד by the hands H4397 המלאכים of messengers, H559 לאמר saying, H834 אשׁר Whosoever H369 איננו cometh not forth H3318 יצא cometh not forth H310 אחרי after H7586 שׁאול Saul H310 ואחר and after H8050 שׁמואל Samuel, H3541 כה so H6213 יעשׂה shall it be done H1241 לבקרו unto his oxen. H5307 ויפל fell H6343 פחד And the fear H3068 יהוה of the LORD H5921 על on H5971 העם the people, H3318 ויצאו and they came out H376 כאישׁ consent. H259 אחד׃ with one

8 H6485 ויפקדם And when he numbered H966 בבזק them in Bezek, H1961 ויהיו were H1121 בני the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H7969 שׁלשׁ three H3967 מאות hundred H505 אלף thousand, H376 ואישׁ and the men H3063 יהודה of Judah H7970 שׁלשׁים thirty H505 אלף׃ thousand.

9 H559 ויאמרו And they said H4397 למלאכים unto the messengers H935 הבאים that came, H3541 כה Thus H559 תאמרון shall ye say H376 לאישׁ unto the men H3003 יבישׁ of Jabesh; H1568 גלעד H4279 מחר Tomorrow, H1961 תהיה ye shall have H8668 לכם תשׁועה help. H2527 בחם be hot, H8121 השׁמשׁ by the sun H935 ויבאו came H4397 המלאכים And the messengers H5046 ויגידו and showed H376 לאנשׁי to the men H3003 יבישׁ H8055 וישׂמחו׃ and they were glad.

10 H559 ויאמרו said, H582 אנשׁי H3003 יבישׁ of Jabesh H4279 מחר Tomorrow H3318 נצא we will come out H413 אליכם unto H6213 ועשׂיתם you, and ye shall do H3605 לנו ככל with us all H2896 הטוב good H5869 בעיניכם׃ that seemeth

11 H1961 ויהי And it was H4283 ממחרת on the morrow, H7760 וישׂם put H7586 שׁאול that Saul H853 את H5971 העם the people H7969 שׁלשׁה in three H7218 ראשׁים companies; H935 ויבאו and they came H8432 בתוך into the midst H4264 המחנה of the host H821 באשׁמרת watch, H1242 הבקר in the morning H5221 ויכו and slew H853 את H5983 עמון the Ammonites H5704 עד until H2527 חם the heat H3117 היום of the day: H1961 ויהי and it came to pass, H7604 הנשׁארים that they which remained H6327 ויפצו were scattered, H3808 ולא of them were not H7604 נשׁארו left H8147 בם שׁנים so that two H3162 יחד׃ together.

1 Samuel 31:11-13

11 H8085 וישׁמעו heard H413 אליו heard H3427 ישׁבי And when the inhabitants H3003 יבישׁ H1568 גלעד H853 את H834 אשׁר of that which H6213 עשׂו had done H6430 פלשׁתים the Philistines H7586 לשׁאול׃ to Saul;

12 H6965 ויקומו arose, H3605 כל All H376 אישׁ men H2428 חיל the valiant H1980 וילכו and went H3605 כל all H3915 הלילה night, H3947 ויקחו and took H853 את H1472 גוית the body H7586 שׁאול of Saul H853 ואת H1472 גוית and the bodies H1121 בניו of his sons H2346 מחומת from the wall H1052 בית שׁן of Beth-shan, H935 ויבאו and came H3003 יבשׁה to Jabesh, H8313 וישׂרפו and burnt H853 אתם H8033 שׁם׃ them there.

13 H3947 ויקחו And they took H853 את H6106 עצמתיהם their bones, H6912 ויקברו and buried H8478 תחת under H815 האשׁל a tree H3003 ביבשׁה at Jabesh, H6684 ויצמו and fasted H7651 שׁבעת seven H3117 ימים׃ days.

2 Samuel 2:4-7

4 H935 ויבאו came, H376 אנשׁי And the men H3063 יהודה of Judah H4886 וימשׁחו they anointed H8033 שׁם and there H853 את H1732 דוד David H4428 למלך king H5921 על over H1004 בית the house H3063 יהודה of Judah. H5046 ויגדו And they told H1732 לדוד David, H559 לאמר saying, H376 אנשׁי the men H3003 יבישׁ H1568 גלעד H834 אשׁר that H6912 קברו buried H853 את H7586 שׁאול׃ Saul.

5 H7971 וישׁלח sent H1732 דוד And David H4397 מלאכים messengers H413 אל unto H376 אנשׁי the men H3003 יבישׁ H1568 גלעד H559 ויאמר and said H413 אליהם unto H1288 ברכים them, Blessed H859 אתם ye H3068 ליהוה of the LORD, H834 אשׁר that H6213 עשׂיתם ye have showed H2617 החסד kindness H2088 הזה this H5973 עם unto H113 אדניכם your lord, H5973 עם unto H7586 שׁאול Saul, H6912 ותקברו and have buried H853 אתו׃

6 H6258 ועתה And now H6213 יעשׂ show H3068 יהוה the LORD H5973 עמכם unto H2617 חסד kindness H571 ואמת and truth H1571 וגם also H595 אנכי you: and I H6213 אעשׂה will requite H854 אתכם H2896 הטובה kindness, H2063 הזאת you this H834 אשׁר because H6213 עשׂיתם ye have done H1697 הדבר thing. H2088 הזה׃ this

7 H6258 ועתה Therefore now H2388 תחזקנה be strengthened, H3027 ידיכם let your hands H1961 והיו and be H1121 לבני ye valiant: H2428 חיל ye valiant: H3588 כי for H4191 מת is dead, H113 אדניכם your master H7586 שׁאול Saul H1571 וגם and also H853 אתי H4886 משׁחו have anointed H1004 בית the house H3063 יהודה of Judah H4428 למלך me king H5921 עליהם׃ over
