² And beholde, ther was a greate earthquake. For the angell of the Lord descended from heauen, & came & rowlled backe the stone from the dore, and sat vpon it.

⁵¹ And beholde, the vayle of the temple dyd rent in to two partes, from the toppe to the bottome, and the earth dyd quake, and the stones ren ⁵² and graues dyd open: and many bodyes of sainctes which slept, arose, ⁵³ & went out of the graues after his resurreccyon, and came in to the holy cytie, and appeared vnto many.

³ And they sayd among them selues: who shall rolle vs awaye the stone from the dore of the sepulchre? ⁴ And when they loked, they sawe how that the stone was rolled awaye, for it was a very greate one. ⁵ And they went into the sepulcre, and sawe a younge man syttyng on the ryghtsyde, clothed in a longe white garment, & they were afrayed.

² And they founde the stone rowled awaye from the sepulcre, ³ and they went in: but founde not the body of the Lorde Iesu. ⁴ And it happened, as they were amased therat, Beholde, two men stode by them in shynynge garmentes. ⁵ And as they were afrayde, and bowed doune theyr faces to the erth, they sayde vnto them: why seke ye the lyuynge amonge the deed?

¹ The fyrst daye of the Sabbothes cam Mary Magdalene early (when it was yet darcke) vnto the sepulchre, and sawe the stone taken awaye from the graue.

¹² & seeth two angels clothed in whyte, sytting, the one at the heed & the other at the fete, where they had layde the body of Iesus. ¹³ They saye vnto her, woman, why wepest thou? She sayeth vnto them: for they haue taken awaye my Lord, & I wote not where they haue layde him.

²⁶ And sodenly ther was a greate erthquake, so that the foundacion of the preson was shaken, and immediatly all the dores opened and euery mannes bandes were loosed.

¹⁶ And without doute great is that mystery of godlynes: God was shewed in the flesshe, was iustifyed in the sprete, was sene amonge the Angels, was preached vnto the gentyls, was beleued on in the worlde, and receaued vp in glory.

¹² vnto whych Prophetes it was also declared, that not vnto them selues, but vnto vs, they shulde minyster the thynges whych are now shewed vnto you of them, whych (by the holy goost sent downe from heauen) haue in the Gospell preached vnto you the thynges, whych the angels desyre to beholde.

¹⁹ And the temple of God was opened in heauen, & ther was sene in his temple, the arcke of his testament, & ther folowed lightnynges, and voyces, and thondrynges and erthquake, and moch hayle.
