² "Repent!" he said, "for the Kingdom of Heaven is coming!"

¹⁷ From that time Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent! for the Kingdom of Heaven is coming!"

³ "Blessed are those who feel their spiritual need, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them!

¹⁰ "Blessed are those who have endured persecution for their uprightness, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them!

¹⁹ Anyone, therefore, who weakens one of the slightest of these commands, and teaches others to do so, will be ranked lowest in the Kingdom of Heaven; but anyone who observes them and teaches others to do so will be ranked high in the Kingdom of Heaven. ²⁰ For I tell you that unless your uprightness is far superior to that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never even enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

¹⁰ Your kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven!

³³ But you must make his kingdom, and uprightness before him, your greatest care, and you will have all these other things besides.

⁷ And as you go about, preach and say, 'The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!'

¹¹ "I tell you, among men born of women no one greater than John the Baptist has ever appeared. And yet those who are of little importance in the Kingdom of Heaven are greater than he. ¹² But from the time of John the Baptist until now men have been taking the Kingdom of Heaven by storm and impetuously crowding into it.

²⁰ Then he began to reproach the towns in which his numerous wonders had been done, because they did not repent.

⁴¹ Men of Nineveh will rise with this age at the judgment and condemn it, for when Jonah preached they repented, and there is more than Jonah here!

Jesus said to them, "I tell you, the tax-collectors and prostitutes are going into the Kingdom of God ahead of you. ³² For John came to you with a way of uprightness, and you would not believe him. The tax-collectors and prostitutes believed him, but even after seeing that, you would not change your minds and believe him!

² "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a king, who gave a wedding banquet for his son.

¹³ "But alas for you, you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees, for you lock the doors of the Kingdom of Heaven in men's faces, for you will neither go in yourselves nor let those enter who are trying to do so.

¹ "Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

¹⁴ "For it is just like a man who was going on a journey, and called in his slaves, and put his property in their hands.

⁴ John the baptizer appeared in the desert, and preached repentance and baptism in order to obtain the forgiveness of sins.

¹⁵ saying, "The time has come and the reign of God is near; repent, and believe this good news."

¹² So they went out and preached that men should repent,

²⁰ Then he fixed his eyes on his disciples, and said, "Blessed are you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours!

² and he sent them out to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to cure the sick.

⁹ and cure the sick there, and say to them, 'The Kingdom of God is close upon you!' ¹⁰ But whenever you come to a town and they do not welcome you, go out into the open streets and say, ¹¹ 'The very dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off in protest. But understand this: the Kingdom of God is at hand!'

²⁰ But if it is with the finger of God that I am driving the demons out, then the Kingdom of God has overtaken you.

³ No, I tell you; unless you repent, you will all perish as they did!

⁵ No, I tell you; unless you repent, you will all perish as they did!"

⁷ I tell you, in just that way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinful person who repents, than over ninety-nine upright people who do not need any repentance.

¹⁰ In just that way, I tell you, there is joy among the angels of God over one sinful person who repents!"

³⁰ But he said, 'No! Father Abraham, but if someone will go to them from the dead, they will repent!'

³¹ So when you see these things happen, you must know that the Kingdom of God is at hand.

⁴⁷ and that repentance leading to the forgiveness of sins should be preached to all the heathen in his name.

³ Jesus answered him, "I tell you, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born over again from above!" ⁴ Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother's womb over again and be born?" ⁵ Jesus answered, "I tell you, if a man does not owe his birth to water and spirit, he cannot get into the Kingdom of God.

³⁸ Peter said to them, "You must repent, and every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, in order to have your sins forgiven; then you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit,

¹⁹ So repent and turn to God, to have your sins wiped out, and happier times will come from the presence of the Lord,

¹⁸ When they heard this, they made no further objection, but they gave honor to God, and said, "Then God has given even the heathen repentance and the hope of life!"

³⁰ While God overlooked those times of ignorance, he now calls upon all men everywhere to repent,

²¹ but earnestly urged Greeks as well as Jews to turn to God in repentance and to believe in our Lord Jesus.

²⁰ but first to the people of Damascus and Jerusalem and then all over Judea, and even to the heathen I preached that they must repent and turn to God and live as men who have repented should.

¹⁰ For the pain that God approves results in a repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regrets; but the world's pain results in death.

¹ Let us therefore leave elementary Christian teaching alone and advance toward maturity. We must not be always relaying foundations, of repentance for wrong-doing, and of faith in God,

⁹ The Lord is not slow about his promise, in the sense that some men think; he is really showing his patience with you, because he does not want any to perish, but wishes all men to be brought to repentance.

⁵ So remember how far you have fallen, and repent and do as you did at first, or else I will come to you and take your lampstand from its place, if you do not repent.

²¹ I have given her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her immorality.
