²⁷ And he began with Moses and all the prophets and explained to them the passages all through the Scriptures that referred to himself.

²⁵ Then he said to them, "How foolish you are and how slow to believe all that the prophets have said!

⁴⁴ Then he said to them, "This is what I told you when I was still with you—that everything that is written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must come true."

⁴⁵ Philip sought out Nathanael, and said to him, "We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the Law and about whom the prophets wrote; it is Jesus, the son of Joseph, who comes from Nazareth!"

³⁹ You pore over the Scriptures, for you think that you will find eternal life in them, and these very Scriptures testify to me,

⁴⁵ Do not suppose that I will accuse you to the Father. Moses is your accuser—Moses, on whom you have fixed your hopes! ⁴⁶ For if you really believed Moses, you would believe me, for it was about me that he wrote. ⁴⁷ But if you refuse to believe what he wrote, how are you ever to believe what I say?"

²² Moses said, 'The Lord God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, as he raised me up. You must listen to everything that he tells you.

²⁴ Why, all the prophets from Samuel down, who have spoken, have also foretold these days.

³⁷ This was the Moses who said to the descendants of Israel, 'God will make a prophet rise from among your brothers to teach you, just as he made me rise.'

⁴³ It is of him that all the prophets bear witness that everyone that believes in him will have his sins forgiven in his name."

²⁷ For the people of Jerusalem and their leaders refused to recognize him, and condemned him, thus fulfilling the very utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, ²⁸ and though they could find no ground for putting him to death, they demanded of Pilate that he be executed. ²⁹ When they had carried out everything that had been said about him in the Scriptures, they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb. ³⁰ But God raised him from the dead,

¹⁰ I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, "You must not do that. I am only a fellow-slave of yours and of your brothers who have accepted the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is what inspires prophecy."
