¹ The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

¹⁸ The birth of Jesus Christ was thus: His mother Mary, having been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, was found having gestation from the Holy Ghost.

¹ Jesus having been born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came into Jerusalem saying; ² Where is He that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen His star in the east, and have come to worship Him-

¹⁶ And Jesus having been baptized, came up straightway from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened and He saw the Spirit of God, descending like a dove, coming on Him.

²⁷ And two blind men followed Him, going thence, crying out, and saying,

²² And behold, a Canaanitish woman having come out from those coasts, cried unto Him saying, Have mercy on me, Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is terribly demonized.

⁴² saying, What seems to you concerning the Christ? whose son is He? They say to Him, Of David. ⁴³ He says to them, How then does David in the Spirit call Him Lord, saying, ⁴⁴ The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, until I may make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet? ⁴⁵ Then if David calls Him Lord, how is He his son?

³¹ And behold, thou shalt conceive and hear a son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus. ³² He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David:

⁶⁹ in the house of David His son. ⁷⁰ As he spoke through the mouth of His holy prophets from the beginning;

⁴² Did not the Scripture say, that Christ comes from the seed of David and from the village of Bethlehem, where David was?

³⁰ Therefore being a prophet and knowing that God swore with an oath, that from the fruit of his loins One should sit upon the throne;

²² and having deposed him, he raised up to them David for a king; to whom witnessing he also said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man according to my own heart, who will do all my wishes. ²³ From whose seed according to the promise he led forth Jesus, the Savior, to Israel:

³ concerning his Son, having been born of the seed of David according to the flesh;

¹³ For the promise to Abraham or his seed, that he should be the heir of the world, was not through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

⁵ of whom are the fathers, and of whom is Christ according to the flesh. Who is over all, God blessed forever: amen.

¹⁶ But the promises were spoken to Abraham and his seed. He does not say, And unto seeds, as of many; but as of one; And thy seed, which is Christ.

¹⁶ I Jesus sent my angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and offspring of David, the bright and morning-star.
