²² And they all continued to witness to Him, and wonder at the words of grace proceeding out from His mouth: and say, Is not this the son of Joseph?

⁵⁴ And having come into His own country He was teaching them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Whence this wisdom and these miracles unto Him? ⁵⁵ Is not He the son of the carpenter? is not His mother called Mary? are not His brothers, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? ⁵⁶ And are not His sisters all here with us? Whence then are these things to Him?

² and it being the Sabbath day, He began to preach in the synagogue: and many hearing were astonished, saying, Whence are these things to this one? and, What wisdom is given unto Him? Such miracles are wrought by His hands. ³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary? the brother of James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? Are not His sisters here with us? And they were offended in Him.

⁴⁷ And all hearing Him were astonished at His wisdom and answers.

¹⁵ for I will give to you mouth and wisdom, which all who are opposed to you will not be able to gainsay nor resist.

⁴² and they continued to say, Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how does He now say; I have come down from heaven?

⁴⁶ The officers responded, Never did a man so speak, as this man speaks.

¹⁰ and they were not able to resist the wisdom and spirit with which he was speaking.
