⁵ Let your deportment be free from covetousness; being content with present things: for he said, I will not, I will not, leave you, neither do I ever forsake you;

²⁵ Therefore I say unto you, Be not solicitous for your soul what you may eat, nor for your body what you may put on. Is not your soul more valuable than food, and your body than raiment?

³⁴ Therefore be not solicitous unto the morrow: for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

²² thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, impurity, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, folly.

¹⁴ And the soldiers were asking him saying; And what shall we do? And he said to them; Oppress no one, neither defraud; and be content with your wages.

¹⁴ And that which falleth among thorns, there are those who hear, and going forward, by the cares and riches and pleasures are choked out, and bring forth no fruit to perfection.

¹⁵ And He said to them, See, and beware of all covetousness: because his life is not in that which aboundeth to any one, from those things belonging to him. ¹⁶ He spake a parable to them, saying, The farm of a certain rich man was very productive: ¹⁷ and he was reasoning in himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no place where I shall store my fruits? ¹⁸ And he said, I will do this: I will take down my barns, and build greater, and there I will gather all my fruits and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, be merry. ²⁰ But God said to him, Thou fool, this night they are demanding thy soul from thee; and to whom shall those things which thou hast prepared, belong? ²¹ So is every one laying up treasure for himself, and not rich toward God.

¹³ No servant is able to serve two masters: for he will hate the one, and love the other; or he will cleave to the one, and despise the other. You are not able to serve God and mammon. ¹⁴ And the Pharisees, being avaricious, were hearing all these things, and murmuring against Him.

²⁹ being filled with all injustice, wickedness, vice, covetousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceitfulness, evil affection;

¹¹ For now I have written unto you not to keep company with him, if any one denominated a brother may be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a scold, or drunken, or an extortioner; with such a one not to eat.

¹⁰ nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor scolds, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

³ But all fornication, and uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be named among you, as it becomes saints;

⁵ for you are knowing this, that no fornicator, or unclean person, or covetous, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

¹¹ Not that I speak concerning deficiency: for I have learned to be content with those things amid which I am. ¹² I indeed know how to be poor, and I know how to abound: in every thing and in all things I learned both to flourish and to be poor, both to abound and to be destitute.

⁵ Therefore kill your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;

³ not given to wine, not a controvertist; but gentle, peaceable, not a money lover;

⁶ Godliness with contentment is great gain, ⁷ for because we have brought nothing into the world, we are not able to carry any thing out; ⁸ however having food and raiment we shall be contented with these. ⁹ But those wishing to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown the people in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all evils: which some seeking after have wandered from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

³ and in their covetousness they will sell you with their soft speeches: unto whom judgment from olden time tarries not, and their destruction does not slumber.

¹⁴ having eyes full of an adulteress, and unable to cease from sin; beguiling unestablished souls: having a heart which has been made fat with covetousness; children of the curse:

¹¹ Woe unto them! because they have gone off in the way of Cain, and in the delusion of Balaam they have been seduced by reward, and they perished in the gainsaying of Korah.
