⁸ But you indeed, not knowing God, at that time served those who by nature are not gods:

¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.

¹² and they were calling Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercury, since he was the leader of the speech.

²³ For going through, and seeing your devotions, I also found an altar on which it was superscribed, To THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore I now preach unto you Him whom you are ignorantly worshiping.

²⁹ Then being the offspring of God, we ought not to think that divinity is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, the invention of art and the device of man. ³⁰ Then indeed God winking at the times of ignorance, now commands all men everywhere to repent:

²³ and changed the glory of the invisible God into the similitude of the likeness of corruptible man, and of birds, and of quadrupeds, and of creeping things.

²⁸ And as they did not approve to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are inappropriate;

²¹ For since in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, God was pleased through the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe.

⁴ Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no God except one.

¹⁹ Then what do I say? that idolatry is anything? or that an idol is anything? ²⁰ But those things which they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God. But I do not wish you to be the communicants of demons.

² You know that when you were heathens, you were following after dumb idols, as you were led.

¹¹ Therefore remember, that when you were Gentiles in the flesh, called Uncircumcision by that which is called Circumcision, made in the flesh with hands; ¹² because you were at that time without Christ, being alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers of the covenants of the promise, having no hope and being atheists in the world.

¹⁸ being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God through the ignorance being in themselves, on account of the blindness of their heart;

⁹ for they proclaim concerning what kind of reception we had unto you; and how you turned to God from the idols, to serve the true and the living God,

⁵ not in the passion of lust, as indeed the Gentiles who do not know God;

⁸ in the fire of flame, dispensing vengeance to those who know not God, and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus:

³ For the past time is sufficient to have wrought the will of the heathens, walking in impurities, in lusts, in wine-drinkings, in revelries, in intemperance, and in unlawful idolatries:

¹ Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God; and we are. And on this account the world does not know us, because it did not know him.
