¹⁶ These are ye things that ye shall doe. Speake ye euery man the trueth vnto his neighbour: execute iudgement truely and vprightly in your gates,

¹¹ Ye shall not steale, neither deale falsely, neither lie one to another.

¹² And nowe, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to feare the Lord thy God, to walke in all his wayes, and to loue him, and to serue the Lord thy God, with all thine heart, and with all thy soule? ¹³ That thou keepe the commandements of the Lord, and his ordinances, which I commaund thee this day, for thy wealth?

⁷ For your eyes haue seene all the great actes of the Lord which he did. ⁸ Therefore shall ye keepe all the commandements, which I commaund you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possesse the land whither ye goe to possesse it:

² He that walketh vprightly and worketh righteousnes, and speaketh the trueth in his heart.

¹⁷ He that speaketh trueth, will shewe righteousnes: but a false witnes vseth deceite.

¹⁹ The lip of trueth shall be stable for euer: but a lying tongue varieth incontinently.

⁷ The increase of his gouernement and peace shall haue none end: he shall sit vpon the throne of Dauid, and vpon his kingdome, to order it, and to stablish it with iudgement and with iustice, from hencefoorth, euen for euer: the zeale of the Lord of hostes will performe this.

³ And shall make him prudent in the feare of the Lord: for he shall not iudge after the sight of his eies, neither reproue by ye hearing of his eares. ⁴ But with righteousnesse shall he iudge the poore, and with equitie shall he reprooue for the meeke of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lippes shall he slay the wicked. ⁵ And iustice shall be ye girdle of his loynes, and faithfulnesse the girdle of his reines. ⁶ The wolfe also shall dwell with the lambe, and the leopard shall lie with the kid, and the calfe, and the lyon, and the fat beast together, and a litle childe shall leade them. ⁷ And the kow and the beare shall feede: their yong ones shall lie together: and the lyon shall eate strawe like the bullocke. ⁸ And the sucking childe shall play vpon the hole of the aspe, and the wained childe shall put his hand vpon the cockatrice hole. ⁹ Then shall none hurt nor destroy in all the mountaine of mine holines: for the earth shalbe full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters that couer the sea.

³ And they bende their tongues like their bowes for lyes: but they haue no courage for the trueth vpon the earth: for they proceede from euill to worse, and they haue not knowen mee, sayth the Lord. ⁴ Let euery one take heede of his neighbour, and trust you not in any brother: for euery brother will vse deceite, and euery friend will deale deceitfully, ⁵ And euery one wil deceiue his friende, and wil not speake the trueth: for they haue taught their tongues to speake lies, and take great paynes to do wickedly.

¹ Heare the worde of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controuersie with the inhabitants of the lande, because there is no trueth nor mercie nor knowledge of God in the lande. ² By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and whoring they breake out, and blood toucheth blood.

¹⁵ Hate the euil, and loue the good, and establish iudgement in the gate: it may bee that the Lord God of hostes will be mercifull vnto the remnant of Ioseph.

²⁴ And let iudgement runne downe as waters, and righteousnesse as a mightie riuer.

⁸ He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requireth of thee: surely to doe iustly, and to loue mercie, and to humble thy selfe, to walke with thy God.

¹² For the rich men thereof are full of crueltie, and the inhabitants thereof haue spoken lyes, and their tongue is deceitfull in their mouth.

⁹ Thus speaketh the Lord of hostes, saying, Execute true iudgement, and shewe mercy and compassion, euery man to his brother,

¹⁹ Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, The fast of the fourth moneth, and the fast of the fift, and the fast of the seuenth, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Iudah ioy and gladnes, and prosperous hie feasts: therefore loue the trueth and peace.

⁹ Blessed are the peace makers: for they shall be called the children of God.

⁸ Bring foorth therefore fruites worthy amendment of life, and beginne not to say with your selues, We haue Abraham to our father: for I say vnto you, that God is able of these stones to raise vp children vnto Abraham. ⁹ Nowe also is the axe layed vnto the roote of the trees: therefore euery tree which bringeth not foorth good fruite, shalbe hewen downe, and cast into the fire. ¹⁰ Then the people asked him, saying, What shall we doe then? ¹¹ And he answered, and said vnto them, He that hath two coates, let him part with him that hath none: and hee that hath meate, let him doe likewise. ¹² Then came there Publicanes also to bee baptized, and saide vnto him, Master, what shall we doe? ¹³ And hee saide vnto them, Require no more then that which is appointed vnto you. ¹⁴ The souldiers likewise demaunded of him, saying, And what shall we doe? And he saide vnto them, Doe violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely, and be content with your wages.

¹⁷ This I say therefore and testifie in the Lord, that yee hencefoorth walke not as other Gentiles walke, in vanitie of their minde,

²⁵ Wherefore cast off lying, and speake euery man truth vnto his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

⁶ That no man oppresse or defraude his brother in any matter: for the Lord is auenger of all such thinges, as we also haue tolde you before time, and testified.

¹³ Wherefore, girde vp the Ioynes of your minde: bee sober, and trust perfectly on that grace that is brought vnto you, in the reuelation of Iesus Christ, ¹⁴ As obedient children, not fashioning your selues vnto the former lustes of your ignorance: ¹⁵ But as hee which hath called you, is holie, so be yee holie in all maner of conuersation; ¹⁶ Because it is written, Be yee holie, for I am holie.

⁸ But the fearful and vnbeleeuing, and the abominable and murtherers, and whoremogers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars shall haue their part in the lake, which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
