⁵ Not by the woorkes of righteousnesse, which we had done, but according to his mercie he saued vs, by the washing of the newe birth, and the renewing of the holy Ghost,

²⁰ If I woulde iustifie my selfe, mine owne mouth shall condemne mee: if I would be perfite, he shall iudge me wicked.

¹⁴ What is man, that he should be cleane? and he that is borne of woman, that he shoulde be iust?

⁴ And howe may a man be iustified with God? or how can he be cleane, that is borne of woman?

¹⁰ Create in mee a cleane heart, O God, and renue a right spirit within me.

¹² And to thee, O Lord, mercie: for thou rewardest euery one according to his worke.

⁵ For thou, Lord, art good and mercifull, and of great kindenes vnto all them, that call vpon thee.

¹⁵ But thou, O Lord, art a pitifull God and mercifull, slowe to anger and great in kindenes and trueth.

⁷ Let Israel waite on the Lord: for with the Lord is mercie, and with him is great redemption.

² (And enter not into iudgement with thy seruant: for in thy sight shall none that liueth, be iustified)

¹² I will declare thy righteousnes and thy workes, and they shall not profite thee.

¹⁸ Who is a God like vnto thee, that taketh away iniquitie, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage! He reteineth not his wrath for euer, because mercie pleaseth him.

⁵⁰ And his mercie is from generation to generation on them that feare him.

⁵⁴ Hee hath vpholden Israel his seruaunt to be mindefull of his mercie

⁷² That he might shewe mercie towards our fathers, and remember his holy couenant,

⁷⁸ Through ye tender mercy of our God, wherby the day spring from an hie hath visited vs,

²⁷ And he answered, and saide, Thou shalt loue thy Lord God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy strength, and with all thy thought, and thy neighbour as thy selfe. ²⁸ Then he said vnto him, Thou hast answered right: this doe, and thou shalt liue. ²⁹ But he willing to iustifie himselfe, said vnto Iesus, Who is then my neighbour?

³ Iesus answered, and said vnto him, Verely, verely I say vnto thee, except a man be borne againe, he can not see the kingdome of God. ⁴ Nicodemus sayde vnto him, Howe can a man be borne which is olde? can he enter into his mothers wombe againe, and be borne? ⁵ Iesus answered, Verely, verely I say vnto thee, except that a man be borne of water and of the Spirite, hee can not enter into the kingdome of God.

²⁰ Therefore by the woorkes of the Lawe shall no flesh be iustified in his sight: for by the Lawe commeth the knowledge of sinne.

²⁸ Therefore we conclude, that a man is iustified by faith, without the workes of the Lawe.

⁵ But to him that worketh not, but beleeueth in him that iustifieth the vngodly, his faith is counted for righteousnesse.

¹¹ For yer the children were borne, and when they had neither done good, nor euill (that the purpose of God might remaine according to election, not by workes, but by him that calleth)

¹⁶ So then it is not in him that willeth, nor in him that runneth, but in God that sheweth mercy.

³⁰ What shall we say then? That the Gentiles which folowed not righteousnes, haue attained vnto righteousnes, euen the righteousnes which is of faith.

⁶ And if it be of grace, it is no more of workes: or els were grace no more grace: but if it be of workes, it is no more grace: or els were worke no more worke.

² And fashion not your selues like vnto this worlde, but bee yee changed by the renewing of your minde, that ye may prooue what that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God is.

¹¹ And such were some of you: but yee are washed, but yee are sanctified, but yee are iustified in the Name of the Lord Iesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁶ Knowe that a man is not iustified by the works of the Law, but by ye faith of Iesus Christ, euen we, I say, haue beleeued in Iesus Christ, that we might be iustified by the faith of Christ, and not by the workes of the Lawe, because that by the workes of the Lawe, no flesh shalbe iustified.

¹⁶ Nowe to Abraham and his seede were the promises made. Hee saith not, And to the seedes, as speaking of many: but, And to thy seede, as of one, which is Christ. ¹⁷ And this I say, that the couenant that was confirmed afore of God in respect of Christ, the Lawe which was foure hundreth and thirtie yeeres after, can not disanull, that it shoulde make the promise of none effect. ¹⁸ For if the inheritance be of the Lawe, it is no more by the promise, but God gaue it freely vnto Abraham by promise. ¹⁹ Wherefore then serueth the Law? It was added because of the transgressions, til the seed came, vnto the which the promise was made: and it was ordeined by Angels in the hande of a Mediatour. ²⁰ Nowe a Mediatour is not a Mediatour of one: but God is one. ²¹ Is the Lawe then against the promises of God? God forbid: For if there had bene a Lawe giuen which coulde haue giuen life, surely righteousnes should haue bene by the Lawe.

⁶ To the prayse of the glory of his grace, wherewith he hath made vs freely accepted in his beloued, ⁷ By whom we haue redemption through his blood, euen the forgiuenes of sinnes, according to his rich grace:

⁴ But God which is rich in mercie, through his great loue wherewith he loued vs,

⁸ For by grace are ye saued through faith, and that not of your selues: it is the gift of God, ⁹ Not of workes, least any man should boast himselfe.

²³ And be renued in the spirit of your minde,

²⁶ That hee might sanctifie it, and clense it by the washing of water through the worde,

¹⁰ And haue put on the newe, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him,

⁹ Who hath saued vs, and called vs with an holy calling, not according to our workes, but according to his owne purpose and grace, which was giuen to vs through Christ Iesus before the world was,

⁴ But when that bountifulnesse and that loue of God our Sauiour toward man appeared,

¹⁶ Let vs therefore goe boldly vnto ye throne of grace, that we may receiue mercy, and finde grace to helpe in time of neede.

⁶ If they fal away, should be renued againe by repentance: seeing they crucifie againe to themselues the Sonne of God, and make a mocke of him.

³ Blessed bee God, euen the Father of our Lord Iesus Christ, which according to his aboundant mercie hath begotten vs againe vnto a liuely hope by the resurrection of Iesus Christ from the dead,

¹⁰ Which in time past were not a people, yet are nowe the people of God: which in time past were not vnder mercie, but nowe haue obteined mercie.

²¹ Whereof the baptisme that nowe is, answering that figure, (which is not a putting away of the filth of the flesh, but a confident demaunding which a good conscience maketh to God) saueth vs also by the resurrection of Iesus Christ,
