¹⁷ For thou saiest, I am rich and increased with goods, and haue neede of nothing, and knowest not howe thou art wretched and miserable, and poore, and blinde, and naked.

⁷ Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knewe that they were naked, and they sewed figge tree leaues together, and made them selues breeches.

¹⁰ Who saide, I heard thy voyce in the garden, and was afraide: because I was naked, therefore I hid my selfe. ¹¹ And he saide, Who tolde thee, that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eate?

³⁵ So the Lord plagued the people, because they caused Aaron to make ye calfe which he made.

⁷ There is that maketh himselfe riche, and hath nothing, and that maketh himselfe poore, hauing great riches.

⁹ Least I be full, and denie thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or least I be poore and steale, and take the Name of my God in vaine.

¹⁹ Who is blinde but my seruaunt? or deafe as my messenger, that I sent? who is blind as the perfit, and blinde as the Lordes seruant?

³¹ O generation, take heede to the worde of the Lord: haue I bene as a wildernesse vnto Israel? or a lande of darkenesse? Wherefore sayeth my people then, We are lordes, we will come no more vnto thee?

⁸ And Ephraim saide, Notwithstanding I am rich, I haue found me out riches in all my labours: they shall finde none iniquitie in me, that were wickednesse.

⁵ They that possesse them, slay them and sinne not: and they that sell them, say, Blessed be the Lord: for I am riche, and their owne shepherds spare them not.

³ Blessed are the poore in spirit, for theirs is the kingdome of heauen.

¹² Nowe when Iesus heard it, hee sayde vnto them, The whole neede not a Physition, but they that are sicke.

⁵³ Hee hath filled the hungrie with good things, and sent away the rich emptie.

²⁴ But wo be to you that are rich: for ye haue receiued your consolation.

¹¹ The Pharise stoode and prayed thus with himselfe, O God, I thanke thee that I am not as other men, extortioners, vniust, adulterers, or euen as this Publican. ¹² I fast twise in the weeke: I giue tithe of all that euer I possesse.

⁴⁰ And some of the Pharises which were with him, heard these things, and sayd vnto him, Are we blinde also? ⁴¹ Iesus sayd vnto them, If ye were blinde, ye should not haue sinne: but nowe ye say, We see: therefore your sinne remaineth.

¹⁷ Beholde, thou art called a Iewe, and restest in the Lawe, and gloriest in God, ¹⁸ And knowest his will, and triest the things that dissent from it, in that thou art instructed by the Lawe: ¹⁹ And persuadest thy selfe that thou art a guide of the blinde, a light of them which are in darkenesse, ²⁰ An instructer of them which lacke discretion, a teacher of the vnlearned, which hast the forme of knowledge, and of the truth in ye Law. ²¹ Thou therefore, which teachest another, teachest thou not thy selfe? thou that preachest, A man should not steale, doest thou steale? ²² Thou that saist, A man should not commit adulterie, doest thou commit adulterie? thou that abhorrest idoles, committest thou sacrilege? ²³ Thou that gloriest in the Lawe, through breaking the Lawe, dishonourest thou God?

²⁴ O wretched man that I am, who shall deliuer me from the body of this death!

²⁰ Well: through vnbeliefe they are broken off, and thou standest by faith: bee not hie minded, but feare.

²⁵ For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this secret (least ye should bee arrogant in your selues) that partly obstinacie is come to Israel, vntill the fulnesse of the Gentiles be come in.

³ For I say through the grace that is giuen vnto me, to euery one that is among you, that no man presume to vnderstande aboue that which is meete to vnderstand, but that he vnderstande according to sobrietie, as God hath dealt to euery man the measure of faith.

⁸ Nowe ye are full: nowe ye are made rich: ye reigne as kings without vs, and would to God ye did reigne, that we also might reigne with you. ⁹ For I thinke that God hath set forth vs the last Apostles, as men appointed to death: for we are made a gasing stocke vnto the worlde, and to the Angels, and to men. ¹⁰ We are fooles for Christes sake, and ye are wise in Christ: we are weake, and ye are strong: ye are honourable, and we are despised.

⁹ For he that hath not these things, is blinde, and can not see farre off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his olde sinnes.

⁹ I knowe thy workes and tribulation, and pouertie (but thou art riche) and I knowe the blasphemie of them, which say they are Iewes, and are not, but are the Synagogue of Satan.
