⁴ Wee will not hide them from their children but to the generation to come we wil shewe the praises of the Lord his power also, and his wonderful woorkes that he hath done:

²⁶ And when your children aske you, What seruice is this ye keepe?

⁸ And thou shalt shew thy sonne in that day, saying, This is done, because of that which the Lord did vnto me, when I came out of Egypt.

¹⁴ And when thy sonne shall aske thee to morowe, saying, What is this? thou shalt then say vnto him, With a mightie hande the Lord brought vs out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

⁹ But take heede to thy selfe, and keepe thy soule diligently, that thou forget not the thinges which thine eyes haue seene, and that they depart not out of thine heart, all the dayes of thy life: but teach them thy sonnes, and thy sonnes sonnes:

⁷ And thou shalt rehearse them continually vnto thy children, and shalt talke of them when thou tariest in thine house, and as thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest downe, and when thou risest vp:

¹⁹ And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them, whe thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest downe, and when thou risest vp.

⁶ That this may bee a signe among you, that whe your children shall aske their fathers in time to come, saying, What meane you by these stones? ⁷ Then ye may answere them, That the waters of Iorden were cut off before the Arke of the couenant of the Lord: for when it passed through Iorden, the waters of Iorden were cut off: therefore these stones are a memoriall vnto the children of Israel for euer.

²¹ And he spake vnto ye childre of Israel, saying, When your children shall aske their fathers in time to come, and say, What meane these stones? ²² Then ye shall shew your children, and say, Israel came ouer this Iorden on dry land: ²³ For the Lord your God dryed vp ye waters of Iorden before you, vntill ye were gone ouer, as the Lord your God did the red Sea, which hee dryed vp before vs, till we were gone ouer, ²⁴ That all the people of the worlde may know that the hand of the Lord is mightie, that ye might feare the Lord your God continually.

¹⁸ Which wise men haue tolde, as they haue heard of their fathers, and haue not kept it secret:

¹⁴ That I may shewe all thy praises within the gates of the daughter of Zion, and reioyce in thy saluation.

¹ Why standest thou farre off, O Lord, and hidest thee in due time, euen in affliction? ² The wicked with pride doeth persecute the poore: let them be taken in the craftes that they haue imagined. ³ For the wicked hath made boast of his owne heartes desire, and the couetous blesseth himselfe: he contemneth the Lord. ⁴ The wicked is so proude that hee seeketh not for God: hee thinketh alwayes, There is no God. ⁵ His wayes alway prosper: thy iudgements are hie aboue his sight: therefore defieth he all his enemies.

⁷ That I may declare with the voyce of thankesgiuing, and set foorth all thy wonderous woorkes.

¹⁷ O God, thou hast taught me from my youth euen vntill nowe: therefore will I tell of thy wonderous workes, ¹⁸ Yea, euen vnto mine olde age and graie head, O God: forsake me not, vntill I haue declared thine arme vnto this generation, and thy power to all them, that shall come.

⁴ Generation shall praise thy works vnto generation, and declare thy power. ⁵ I wil meditate of the beautie of thy glorious maiestie, and thy wonderfull workes, ⁶ And they shall speake of the power of thy fearefull actes, and I will declare thy greatnes.

⁷ I wil remember the mercies of the Lord and the prayses of the Lord according vnto all that the Lord hath giuen vs, and for the great goodnesse toward the house of Israel, which hee hath giuen them according to his tender loue, and according to his great mercies. ⁸ For he saide, Surely they are my people, children that wil not lie: so he was their Sauiour. ⁹ In all their troubles he was troubled, and the Angel of his presence saued them: in his loue and in his mercie he redeemed them, and he bare them and caried them alwayes continually. ¹⁰ But they rebelled and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore was hee turned to be their enemie and he fought against them. ¹¹ Then he remembred the olde time of Moses and his people, saying, Where is hee that brought them vp out of the Sea with the shepheard of his sheepe? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him? ¹² He led them by the right hand of Moses with his owne glorious arme, deuiding the water before them, to make himselfe an euerlasting Name. ¹³ Hee led them through the deepe, as an horse in the wildernesse, that they should not stumble, ¹⁴ As the beast goeth downe into the valley, the Spirite of the Lord gaue them rest: so diddest thou leade thy people, to make thy selfe a glorious Name. ¹⁵ Looke downe from heauen, and beholde from the dwelling place of thine holines, and of thy glory. Where is thy zeale and thy strength, the multitude of thy mercies, and of thy compassions? they are restrained from me. ¹⁶ Doutles thou art our Father: though Abraham be ignorant of vs, and Israel knowe vs not, yet thou, O Lord, art our Father, and our redeemer: thy Name is for euer. ¹⁷ O Lord, why hast thou made vs to erre from thy wayes? and hardened our heart from thy feare? Returne for thy seruants sake, and for the tribes of thine inheritance. ¹⁸ The people of thine holinesse haue possessed it, but a litle while: for our aduersaries haue troden downe thy Sanctuarie. ¹⁹ We haue bene as they, ouer whome thou neuer barest rule, and vpon whom thy Name was not called.

³ Tell you your children of it, and let your children shew to their children, and their children to another generation.
