⁸ I am become a stranger vnto my brethren, euen an aliant vnto my mothers sonnes.

²⁸ And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake vnto the men, and Eliab was verie angrie with Dauid, and sayde, Why camest thou downe hither? and with whome hast thou left those fewe sheepe in the wildernesse? I knowe thy pride and the malice of thine heart, that thou art come downe to see the battell.

¹³ He hath remooued my brethre farre from me, and also mine acquaintance were strangers vnto me. ¹⁴ My neighbours haue forsaken me, and my familiars haue forgotten me. ¹⁵ They that dwel in mine house, and my maydes tooke me for a stranger: for I was a stranger in their sight. ¹⁶ I called my seruant, but he would not answere, though I prayed him with my mouth. ¹⁷ My breath was strange vnto my wife, though I prayed her for the childrens sake of mine owne body. ¹⁸ The wicked also despised mee, and when I rose, they spake against me. ¹⁹ All my secret friends abhorred me, and they whome I loued, are turned against me.

¹¹ I was a reproch among all mine enemies, but specially among my neighbours: and a feare to mine acquaintance, who seeing me in the streete, fled from me.

¹¹ My louers and my friends stand aside from my plague, and my kinsmen stand a farre off.

³ He is despised and reiected of men: he is a man full of sorowes and hath experience of infirmities: we hidde as it were our faces from him: he was despised and we esteemed him not.

⁵ Trust ye not in a friend, neither put ye confidence in a counseller: keepe the doores of thy mouth from her that lyeth in thy bosome. ⁶ For the sonne reuileth the father: ye daughter riseth vp against her mother: the daughter in lawe against her mother in lawe, and a mans enemies are the men of his owne house.

²¹ And the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the sonne, and the children shall rise against their parents, and shall cause them to die. ²² And yee shall be hated of all men for my Name: but he that endureth to the end, he shall be saued.

³⁵ For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in lawe. ³⁶ And a mans enemies shall be they of his owne housholde.

⁴⁸ Now he that betraied him, had giuen them a token, saying, Whomesoeuer I shall kisse, that is he, laie holde on him. ⁴⁹ And forthwith he came to Iesus, and sayd, God saue thee, Master, and kissed him. ⁵⁰ Then Iesus sayde vnto him, Friende, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laide hands on Iesus, and tooke him.

⁵⁶ But all this was done, that the Scriptures of the Prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsooke him, and fled.

⁷⁰ But hee denied before them all, saying, I wote not what thou saiest. ⁷¹ And when hee went out into the porche, another maide sawe him, and sayde vnto them that were there, This man was also with Iesus of Nazareth. ⁷² And againe he denied with an othe, saying, I knowe not the man. ⁷³ So after a while, came vnto him they that stoode by, and sayde vnto Peter, Surely thou art also one of them: for euen thy speache bewraieth thee. ⁷⁴ Then began hee to curse himselfe, and to sweare, saying, I knowe not the man. And immediately the cocke crewe.

¹¹ He came vnto his owne, and his owne receiued him not.

⁵ For as yet his brethren beleeued not in him.
