³ For the wicked hath made boast of his owne heartes desire, and the couetous blesseth himselfe: he contemneth the Lord.

⁹ The enemie sayd, I wil pursue, I wil ouertake them, I will deuide the spoyle, my lust shall bee satisfied vpon them, I will drawe my sworde, mine hand shall destroy them.

³⁰ I will also destroy your hye places, and cut away your images, and cast your carkeises vpon the bodies of your idoles, and my soule shall abhorre you.

¹⁹ So that when he heareth the words of this curse, he blesse him selfe in his heart, saying, I shall haue peace, although I walke according to the stubburnes of mine owne heart, thus adding drunkennesse to thirst.

¹⁹ The Lord then sawe it, and was angrie, for the prouocation of his sonnes and of his daughters.

²¹ Then Saul said, Be ye blessed of the Lord: for ye haue had compassion on mee.

²⁴ If I made gold mine hope, or haue sayd to the wedge of golde, Thou art my confidence,

⁶ Thou shalt destroy them that speake lyes: the Lord will abhorre the bloodie man and deceitfull.

²¹ And they gaped on mee with their mouthes, saying, Aha, aha, our eye hath seene.

⁶ They trust in their goods, and boast them selues in the multitude of their riches.

¹¹ Yet they thinke, their houses, and their habitations shall continue for euer, euen from generation to generation, and call their lands by their names. ¹² But man shall not continue in honour: he is like the beastes that die. ¹³ This their way vttereth their foolishnes: yet their posteritie delite in their talke. Selah.

¹⁸ For while he liued, he reioyced himselfe: and men will prayse thee, when thou makest much of thy selfe.

¹ To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid to giue instruction. When Doeg the Edomite came and shewed Saul, and saide to him, Dauid is come to the house of Abimelech. Why boastest thou thy selfe in thy wickednesse, O man of power? the louing kindenesse of God indureth dayly.

⁸ They are licentious, and speake wickedly of their oppression: they talke presumptuously. ⁹ They set their mouth against heauen, and their tongue walketh through the earth.

⁴ They prate and speake fiercely: all the workers of iniquitie vaunt themselues.

⁴ They that forsake the Law, prayse the wicked: but they that keepe the Law, set themselues against them.

⁷ But he thinketh not so, neither doeth his heart esteeme it so: but he imagineth to destroy and to cut off not a fewe nations. ⁸ For he sayeth, Are not my princes altogether Kings? ⁹ Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus? ¹⁰ Like as mine hand hath founde the kingdomes of the idoles, seeing their idoles were aboue Ierusalem, and aboue Samaria: ¹¹ Shall not I, as I haue done to Samaria, and to the idoles thereof, so doe to Ierusalem and to the idoles thereof?

²³ Whome hast thou railed on and blasphemed? and against whome hast thou exalted thy voyce, and lifted vp thine eyes on hie? euen against the holy one of Israel.

¹⁷ For his wicked couetousnesse I am angry with him, and haue smitten him: I hid mee and was angry, yet he went away, and turned after the way of his owne heart.

¹⁷ But thine eyes and thine heart are but only for thy couetousnesse, and for to sheade innocent blood, and for oppression, and for destruction, euen to doe this.

⁷ He is Canaan: the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loueth to oppresse. ⁸ And Ephraim saide, Notwithstanding I am rich, I haue found me out riches in all my labours: they shall finde none iniquitie in me, that were wickednesse.

¹⁰ Are yet the treasures of wickednes in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure, that is abominable? ¹¹ Shall I iustifie the wicked balances, and the bag of deceitfull weightes? ¹² For the rich men thereof are full of crueltie, and the inhabitants thereof haue spoken lyes, and their tongue is deceitfull in their mouth.

⁹ Ho, he that coueteth an euil couetousnesse to his house, that he may set his nest on hie, to escape from the power of euil.

⁵ They that possesse them, slay them and sinne not: and they that sell them, say, Blessed be the Lord: for I am riche, and their owne shepherds spare them not. ⁶ Surely I wil no more spare those that dwell in the land, sayth the Lord: but loe, I will deliuer the men euery one into his neighbours hand, and into the hand of his King: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hands I wil not deliuer them. ⁷ For I fed the sheepe of slaughter, euen the poore of the flocke, and I tooke vnto me two staues: the one I called Beautie, and the other I called Bandes, and I fed the sheepe. ⁸ Three shepherdes also I cut off in one moneth, and my soule lothed them, and their soule abhorred me.

¹⁵ And said, What will ye giue me, and I will deliuer him vnto you? and they appoynted vnto him thirtie pieces of siluer. ¹⁶ And from that time, he sought opportunitie to betraie him.

¹⁵ Wherefore he said vnto them, Take heede, and beware of couetousnesse: for though a man haue abundance, yet his life standeth not in his riches.

¹⁹ And I wil say to my soule, Soule, thou hast much goods laide vp for many yeeres: liue at ease, eate, drinke and take thy pastime.

¹⁴ All these thinges heard the Pharises also which were couetous, and they scoffed at him. ¹⁵ Then he sayde vnto them, Yee are they, which iustifie your selues before men: but God knoweth your heartes: for that which is highly esteemed among men, is abomination in the sight of God.

²⁹ Being full of all vnrighteousnesse, fornication, wickednes, couetousnes, maliciousnes, full of enuie, of murder, of debate, of deceit, taking all things in the euill part, whisperers,

¹⁰ Nor theeues, nor couetous, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor extortioners shall inherite the kingdome of God.

⁵ For this ye know, that no whoremonger, neither vncleane person, nor couetous person, which is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdome of Christ, and of God.

⁵ Mortifie therefore your members which are on the earth, fornication, vncleannes, the inordinate affection, euill concupiscence, and couetousnes which is idolatrie.

⁹ For they that will be rich, fall into tentation and snares, and into many foolish and noysome lustes, which drowne men in perdition and destruction. ¹⁰ For the desire of money is the roote of all euill, which while some lusted after, they erred from the faith, and pearced themselues through with many sorowes.

² For men shalbe louers of their owne selues, couetous, boasters, proud, cursed speakers, disobedient to parents, vnthankefull, vnholy, ³ Without naturall affection, truce breakers, false accusers, intemperate, fierce, no louers at all of them which are good, ⁴ Traitours, headie, high minded, louers of pleasures more then louers of God,

¹³ Goe to now ye that say, To day or to morowe we will goe into such a citie, and continue there a yeere, and bye and sell, and get gaine,

¹⁶ But now ye reioyce in your boastings: all such reioycing is euill.

¹⁵ Loue not this world, neither the things that are in this world. If any man loue this world, the loue of the Father is not in him.
