³⁹ Againe men are diminished, and brought lowe by oppression, euill and sorowe.

¹¹ Also I will nourish thee there (for yet remaine fiue yeeres of famine) lest thou perish through pouertie, thou and thy houshold, and all that thou hast.

¹³ Wherefore the Egyptians by crueltie caused the children of Israel to serue. ¹⁴ Thus they made them weary of their liues by sore labour in clay and in bricke, and in al worke in the fielde, with all maner of bondage, which they layde vpon them most cruelly.

²⁰ And she answered them, Call me not Naomi, but call me Mara: for the Almightie hath giuen me much bitternes. ²¹ I went out full, and the Lord hath caused me to returne emptie: why call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath humbled me, and the Almightie hath brought me vnto aduersitie?

⁵ They that were full, are hired foorth for bread, and the hungrie are no more hired, so that the barren hath borne seuen: and shee that had many children, is feeble. ⁶ The Lord killeth and maketh aliue: bringeth downe to the graue and raiseth vp. ⁷ The Lord maketh poore and maketh rich: bringeth lowe, and exalteth.

⁸ And on a time Elisha came to Shunem, and there a woman of great estimation constrained him to eate bread: and as he passed by, he turned in thither to eate bread.

³ And at the seuen yeeres ende, the woman returned out of the lande of the Philistims, and went out to call vpon the King for her house and for her land.

³² In those dayes the Lord began to lothe Israel, and Hazael smote them in all the coastes of Israel,

⁷ For he had left of the people to Iehoahaz but fiftie horsemen, and tenne charets, and tenne thousand footemen, because the King of Aram had destroyed them, and made them like dust beaten to pouder.

²² But Hazael King of Aram vexed Israel all the dayes of Iehoahaz.

²⁶ For the Lord saw the exceeding bitter affliction of Israel, so that there was none shutte vp, nor any left, neyther yet any that could helpe Israel.

⁵ And in that time there was no peace to him, that did goe out and goe in: but great troubles were to all the inhabitants of the earth. ⁶ For nation was destroyed of nation, and citie of citie: for God troubled them with all aduersitie.

⁶ And in my prosperitie I sayde, I shall neuer be moued. ⁷ For thou Lord of thy goodnes hadest made my mountaine to stande strong: but thou didest hide thy face, and I was troubled.

³³ For thus sayth the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, the daughter of Babel is like a threshing floore: the time of her threshing is come: yet a litle while, and the time of her haruest shall come. ³⁴ Nebuchad-nezzar the King of Babel hath deuoured me, and destroyed me: he hath made me an emptie vessel: he swallowed mee vp like a dragon, and filled his belly with my delicates, and hath cast me out.
