¹ Heare, O ye children, the instruction of a father, and giue eare to learne vnderstanding.

¹¹ Come children, hearken vnto me: I will teache you the feare of the Lord.

⁸ My sonne, heare thy fathers instruction, and forsake not thy mothers teaching.

¹ My sonne, if thou wilt receiue my wordes, and hide my commandements within thee, ² And cause thine eares to hearken vnto wisdome, and encline thine heart to vnderstanding, ³ (For if thou callest after knowledge, and cryest for vnderstanding: ⁴ If thou seekest her as siluer, and searchest for her as for treasures, ⁵ Then shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the Lord, and finde the knowledge of God.

¹ My sonne, hearken vnto my wisedome, and incline thine eare vnto my knowledge.

²⁰ My sonne, keepe thy fathers commandement, and forsake not thy mothers instruction. ²¹ Binde them alway vpon thine heart, and tye them about thy necke. ²² It shall leade thee, when thou walkest: it shall watch for thee, when thou sleepest, and when thou wakest, it shall talke with thee. ²³ For the commandement is a lanterne, and instruction a light: and corrections for instruction are the way of life,

⁴ Say vnto wisedome, Thou art my sister: and call vnderstanding thy kinswoman,

³² Therefore nowe hearken, O children, vnto me: for blessed are they that keepe my wayes. ³³ Heare instruction, and be ye wise, and refuse it not: blessed is the man that heareth mee, watching dayly at my gates, and giuing attendance at the postes of my doores. ³⁴ For he that findeth me, findeth life, and shall obteine fauour of the Lord. ³⁵ But he that sinneth against me, hurteth his owne soule: and all that hate me, loue death. ³⁶

²⁰ Heare counsell and receiue instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter ende.

¹⁷ Incline thine eare, and heare the wordes of the wise, and apply thine heart vnto my knowledge.

¹¹ As ye knowe how that we exhorted you, and comforted, and besought euery one of you (as a father his children) ¹² That ye would walke worthy of God, who hath called you vnto his kingdome and glorie.

¹ Wherefore wee ought diligently to giue heede to the thinges which wee haue heard, lest at any time we runne out.
