² And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron: and the whole assemblie said vnto them, Would God we had died in the land of Egypt, or in this wildernesse: would God we were dead.

²⁴ Then the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drinke?

² And the whole Congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wildernesse. ³ For the children of Israel sayde to them, Oh that we had dyed by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when wee sate by the flesh pots, when wee ate bread our bellies full: for yee haue brought vs out into this wildernesse, to kill this whole company with famine.

³ So the people thirsted there for water, and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore hast thou thus brought vs out of Egypt to kill vs and our children and our cattel with thirst?

¹ When the people became murmurers, it displeased the Lord: and the Lord heard it, therefore his wrath was kindled, and the fire of the Lord burnt among them, and consumed the vtmost parte of the hoste.

¹⁵ Therefore if thou deale thus with mee, I pray thee, if I haue founde fauour in thy sight, kill me, that I behold not my miserie.

²⁷ How long shall I suffer this wicked multitude to murmure against me? I haue heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmure against me. ²⁸ Tell them, As I liue (saith the Lord) I wil surely do vnto you, euen as ye haue spoken in mine eares. ²⁹ Your carkeises shall fall in this wildernes, and all you that were counted through all your nombers, from twentie yeere olde and aboue, which haue murmured against me,

⁴¹ But on the morowe all the multitude of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye haue killed the people of the Lord.

²⁷ And murmured in your tentes, and sayd, Because the Lord hated vs, therefore hath hee brought vs out of the land of Egypt, to deliuer vs into the hand of the Amorites, and to destroy vs.

⁴ But he went a dayes iourney into the wildernesse, and came and sate downe vnder a iuniper tree, and desired that he might die, and sayde, It is now ynough: O Lord, take my soule, for I am no better then my fathers.

¹¹ Why died I not in the birth? or why dyed I not, when I came out of the wombe?

¹⁵ Therefore my soule chuseth rather to be strangled and to die, then to be in my bones. ¹⁶ I abhorre it, I shall not liue alway: spare me then, for my dayes are but vanitie.

²⁴ Also they contemned that pleasant land, and beleeued not his worde,

⁴⁵ And he remembred his couenant towarde them and repented according to the multitude of his mercies,

³ Therefore nowe O Lord, take, I beseech thee, my life from me: for it is better for me to die then to liue.

⁸ And when the sunne did arise, God prepared also a feruent East winde: and the sunne beat vpon the head of Ionah, that he fainted, and wished in his heart to die, and said, It is better for me to dye, then to liue.

¹⁰ Neither murmure ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

¹⁴ Do all things without murmuring and reasonings, ¹⁵ That ye may be blamelesse, and pure, and the sonnes of God without rebuke in the middes of a naughtie and crooked nation, among whom yee shine as lights in the world,

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their owne lustes: Whose mouthes speake proud things, hauing mens persons in admiration, because of aduantage.
