¹² Then all the people went to eate and to drinke, and to send away part, and to make great ioy, because they had vnderstand the wordes that they had taught them.

⁷ Also Ieshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Iamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Iozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Leuites caused the people to vnderstand the lawe, and the people stood in their place. ⁸ And they read in the booke of the Lawe of God distinctly, and gaue the sense, and caused them to vnderstand the reading.

¹² Neyther haue I departed from the commandement of his lippes, and I haue esteemed the words of his mouth more then mine appointed foode.

⁸ The statutes of the Lord are right and reioyce the heart: the commandement of the Lord is pure, and giueth light vnto the eyes. ⁹ The feare of the Lord is cleane, and indureth for euer: the iudgements of the Lord are trueth: they are righteous altogether, ¹⁰ And more to be desired then golde, yea, then much fine golde: sweeter also then honie and the honie combe. ¹¹ Moreouer by them is thy seruant made circumspect, and in keeping of them there is great reward.

¹⁴ I haue had as great delight in the way of thy testimonies, as in all riches.

¹⁶ I will delite in thy statutes, and I will not forget thy worde.

⁷² The Lawe of thy mouth is better vnto me, then thousands of golde and siluer.

⁹⁷ MEM. Oh howe loue I thy Lawe! it is my meditation continually.

¹⁰³ Howe sweete are thy promises vnto my mouth! yea, more then hony vnto my mouth. ¹⁰⁴ By thy precepts I haue gotten vnderstanding: therefore I hate all the wayes of falshoode.

¹¹¹ Thy testimonies haue I taken as an heritage for euer: for they are the ioy of mine heart.

¹²⁷ Therefore loue I thy commandements aboue golde, yea, aboue most fine golde.

¹³⁰ The entrance into thy wordes sheweth light, and giueth vnderstanding to the simple.

¹⁷¹ My lippes shall speake praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.

¹⁷⁴ I haue longed for thy saluation, O Lord, and thy Lawe is my delite.

When ye Lord brought againe the captiuitie of Zion, we were like them that dreame. ² Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with ioye: then sayd they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them. ³ The Lord hath done great things for vs, whereof we reioyce.

¹⁰ When wisdome entreth into thine heart, and knowledge deliteth thy soule, ¹¹ Then shall counsell preserue thee, and vnderstanding shall keepe thee,

¹³ My sonne, eate hony, for it is good, and the hony combe, for it is sweete vnto thy mouth. ¹⁴ So shall the knowledge of wisdome be vnto thy soule, if thou finde it, and there shall be an ende, and thine hope shall not be cut off.

¹⁶ Thy wordes were founde by me, and I did eate them, and thy worde was vnto me the ioy and reioycing of mine heart: for thy Name is called vpon me, O Lord God of hostes.

³² And they saide betweene themselues, Did not our heartes burne within vs, while he talked with vs by the way, and when he opened to vs the Scriptures?

¹⁸ For I know, that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to wil is preset with me: but I find no meanes to perform that which is good.
