¹⁴ Then I behelde, and rose vp, and said vnto the Princes, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not afrayde of them: remember the great Lord, and fearefull, and fight for your brethren, your sonnes, and your daughters, your wiues, and your houses.

⁹ But rebell not ye against the Lord, neither feare ye the people of the land: for they are but bread for vs: their shielde is departed from the, and the Lord is with vs, feare them not.

²¹ Beholde, the Lord thy God hath layde the land before thee: go vp and possesse it, as the Lord the God of thy fathers hath saide vnto thee: feare not, neither be discouraged.

²⁹ But I sayd vnto you, Dread not, nor be afrayd of them. ³⁰ The Lord your God, who goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did vnto you in Egypt before your eyes,

¹⁷ For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lordes, a great God, mightie and terrible, which accepteth no persons nor taketh reward:

³ And shall say vnto them, Heare, O Israel: ye are come this day vnto battell against your enemies: let not your heartes faynt, neither feare, nor be amased, nor adread of them. ⁴ For ye Lord your God goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, and to saue you

⁹ Haue not I commanded thee, saying, Be strong and of a good courage, feare not, nor be discouraged? for I the Lord thy God will be with thee, whithersoeuer thou goest.

¹² Be strong and let vs be valiant for our people, and for the cities of our God, and let the Lord do that which is good in his eyes.

¹⁵ And he said, Hearken ye, all Iudah, and ye inhabitantes of Ierusalem, and thou, King Iehoshaphat: thus saith the Lord vnto you, Feare you not, neither be afraide for this great multitude: for the battel is not yours, but Gods. ¹⁶ To morowe goe yee downe against them: beholde, they come vp by the cleft of Ziz, and ye shall finde them at the ende of the brooke before the wildernesse of Ieruel. ¹⁷ Ye shall not neede to fight in this battell: stand still, moue not, and behold the saluation of the Lord towardes you: O Iudah, and Ierusalem, feare ye not, neither be afraid: to morow goe out against them, and the Lord wilbe with you.

⁷ Be strong and couragious: feare not, neither be afraide for the King of Asshur, neither for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with vs, then is with him.

⁵ And sayde, O Lord God of heauen, the great and terrible God, that keepeth couenant and mercy for them that loue him, and obserue his commandements,

²² The brightnesse commeth out of the North: the praise thereof is to God, which is terrible.

⁷ Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the Name of ye Lord our God.

¹ A Psalme of David. The Lord is my light and my saluation, whom shall I feare? the Lord is the strength of my life, of whome shall I be afraide?

¹¹ The Lord of hostes is with vs: the God of Iaakob is our refuge. Selah.

⁵ O God of our saluation, thou wilt answere vs with fearefull signes in thy righteousnes, O thou the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are farre off in the sea.

³ Say vnto God, Howe terrible art thou in thy workes! through the greatnesse of thy power shall thine enemies be in subiection vnto thee.

⁵ Come and beholde the workes of God: he is terrible in his doing towarde the sonnes of men.

¹⁰ And I sayde, This is my death: yet I remembred the yeeres of the right hand of the most High. ¹¹ I remembred the workes of the Lord: certainely I remembred thy wonders of olde. ¹² I did also meditate all thy woorkes, and did deuise of thine actes, saying, ¹³ Thy way, O God, is in the Sanctuarie: who is so great a God as our God! ¹⁴ Thou art ye God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy power among the people. ¹⁵ Thou hast redeemed thy people with thine arme, euen the sonnes of Iaakob and Ioseph. Selah. ¹⁶ The waters sawe thee, O God: the waters sawe thee, and were afraide: yea, the depths trembled. ¹⁷ The cloudes powred out water: the heauens gaue a sounde: yea, thine arrowes went abroade. ¹⁸ The voyce of thy thunder was rounde about: the lightnings lightened the worlde: the earth trembled and shooke. ¹⁹ Thy way is in the Sea, and thy paths in the great waters, and thy footesteps are not knowen. ²⁰ Thou diddest leade thy people like sheepe by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

⁵ Yet doe I remember the time past: I meditate in all thy workes, yea, I doe meditate in the workes of thine hands.

¹⁰ Feare thou not, for I am with thee: be not afraide, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, and helpe thee, and will susteine thee with the right hand of my iustice. ¹¹ Beholde, all they that prouoke thee, shalbe ashamed, and confounded: they shalbe as nothing, and they that striue with thee, shall perish. ¹² Thou shalt seeke them and shalt not finde them: to wit, the men of thy strife, for they shall be as nothing, and the men that warre against thee, as a thing of nought. ¹³ For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying vnto thee, Feare not, I wil helpe thee. ¹⁴ Feare not, thou worme, Iaakob, and ye men of Israel: I wil helpe thee, sayth the Lord and thy redeemer the holy one of Israel.

¹² I, euen I am he, that comfort you. Who art thou, that thou shouldest feare a mortall man, and the sonne of man, which shalbe made as grasse? ¹³ And forgettest the Lord thy maker, that hath spred out the heauens, and layde the foundations of the earth? and hast feared continually all the day, because of the rage of the oppressour, which is readie to destroy? Where is now the rage of the oppressour?

¹¹ Then he remembred the olde time of Moses and his people, saying, Where is hee that brought them vp out of the Sea with the shepheard of his sheepe? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him? ¹² He led them by the right hand of Moses with his owne glorious arme, deuiding the water before them, to make himselfe an euerlasting Name. ¹³ Hee led them through the deepe, as an horse in the wildernesse, that they should not stumble,

¹ Oh, that thou wouldest breake the heauens, and come downe, and that the mountaines might melt at thy presence! ² As the melting fire burned, as the fire caused the waters to boyle, (that thou mightest declare thy Name to thy aduersaries) the people did tremble at thy presence. ³ When thou diddest terrible things, which we looked not for, thou camest downe, and the mountaines melted at thy presence.

² God is ielous, and the Lord reuengeth: the Lord reuengeth: euen the Lord of anger, the Lord will take vengeance on his aduersaries, and he reserueth wrath for his enemies. ³ The Lord is slow to anger, but he is great in power, and will not surely cleare the wicked: the Lord hath his way in ye whirlewind, and in the storme, and the cloudes are the dust of his feete. ⁴ He rebuketh the sea, and dryeth it, and he dryeth vp all the riuers: Bashan is wasted and Carmel, and the floure of Lebanon is wasted. ⁵ The mountaines tremble for him, and the hilles melt, and the earth is burnt at his sight, yea, the worlde, and all that dwell therein. ⁶ Who can stande before his wrath? or who can abide in the fiercenesse of his wrath? his wrath is powred out like fire, and the rockes are broken by him. ⁷ The Lord is good and as a strong hold in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him.

²⁸ And feare yee not them which kill the bodie, but are nor able to kill the soule: but rather feare him, which is able to destroy both soule and bodie in hell.

²⁰ (For they were not able to abide that which was commanded, yea, though a beast touche the mountaine, it shalbe stoned, or thrust through with a dart: ²¹ And so terrible was the sight which appeared, that Moses said, I feare and quake.)

²⁸ Wherefore seeing we receiue a kingdome, which cannot be shaken, let vs haue grace whereby we may so serue God, that we may please him with reuerence and feare. ²⁹ For euen our God is a consuming fire.

⁶ I will not faile thee, neither forsake thee:
