²⁰ A bruised reede shall he not breake, and smoking flaxe shall he not quenche, till he bring forth iudgement vnto victorie.

²¹ Lo, thou trustest now in this broken staffe of reede, to wit, on Egypt, on which if a man leane, it will goe into his hand, and pearce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt vnto all that trust on him.

¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a contrite spirit: a contrite and a broken heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

¹ A Psalme. Sing vnto the Lord a newe song: for hee hath done marueilous things: his right hand, and his holy arme haue gotten him the victorie. ² The Lord declared his saluation: his righteousnes hath he reueiled in the sight of ye nations. ³ He hath remembred his mercy and his trueth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth haue seene the saluation of our God.

³ He healeth those that are broken in heart, and bindeth vp their sores.

¹¹ He shall feede his flocke like a shepheard: he shall gather the lambes with his arme, and cary them in his bosome, and shall guide them with young.

³ A bruised reede shall hee not breake, and the smoking flaxe shall he not quench: he shall bring foorth iudgement in trueth. ⁴ He shall not faile nor be discouraged till he haue set iudgement in the earth: and the yles shall waite for his lawe.

¹⁵ For thus sayth he that is hie and excellent, he that inhabiteth the eternitie, whose Name is the Holy one, I dwell in the high and holy place: with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirite to reuiue the spirite of the humble, and to giue life to them that are of a contrite heart.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord God is vpon mee, therefore hath the Lord anoynted mee: hee hath sent mee to preache good tidings vnto the poore, to binde vp the broken hearted, to preach libertie to the captiues, and to them that are bound, the opening of the prison, ² To preache the acceptable yeere of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all that mourne, ³ To appoint vnto them that mourne in Zion, and to giue vnto them beautie for ashes, the oyle of ioye for mourning, the garment of gladnesse for the spirit of heauinesse, that they might be called trees of righteousnesse, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

³¹ For the Lord will not forsake for euer. ³² But though he sende affliction, yet will he haue compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. ³³ For he doeth not punish willingly, nor afflict the children of men, ³⁴ In stamping vnder his feete all the prisoners of the earth,

¹⁶ I will seeke that which was lost, and bring againe that which was driue away, and will binde vp that which was broken, and will strengthen the weake but I wil destroy the fat and the strong, and I will feede them with iudgement.

²⁸ Come vnto me, all ye that are wearie and laden, and I will ease you.

¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is vpon mee, because he hath anoynted me, that I should preach the Gospel to the poore: he hath sent mee, that I should heale the broken hearted, that I should preach deliuerance to the captiues, and recouering of sight to the blinde, that I should set at libertie them that are bruised:

¹⁷ I haue therefore whereof I may reioyce in Christ Iesus in those things which pertaine to God. ¹⁸ For I dare not speake of any thing, which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient in worde and deede, ¹⁹ With the power of signes and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God: so that from Hierusalem, and round about vnto Illyricum, I haue caused to abound the Gospel of Christ.

⁷ So that nowe contrariwise yee ought rather to forgiue him, and comfort him, lest the same shoulde bee swalowed vp with ouermuch heauinesse.

¹⁴ Now thankes be vnto God, which alwaies maketh vs to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the sauour of his knowledge by vs in euery place.

³ Neuerthelesse, though wee walke in the flesh, yet we doe not warre after the flesh. ⁴ (For the weapons of our warrefare are not carnall, but mightie through God, to cast downe holdes) ⁵ Casting downe the imaginations, and euery high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captiuitie euery thought to the obedience of Christ,

¹² Wherfore lift vp your hands which hang downe, and your weake knees, ¹³ And make straight steppes vnto your feete, lest that which is halting, be turned out of the way, but let it rather be healed.

² Therefore I behelde, and loe, there was a white horse, and hee that sate on him, had a bowe, and a crowne was giuen vnto him, and he went forth conquering that he might ouercome.

¹¹ And I sawe heauen open, and behold, a white horse, and he that sate vpon him, was called, Faithfull and true, and he iudgeth and fighteth righteously. ¹² And his eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crownes: and he had a name written, that no man knewe but himselfe. ¹³ And he was clothed with a garment dipt in blood, and his name is called THE WORD OF GOD. ¹⁴ And the hostes which werein heauen, followed him vpon white horses, clothed with fine linnen white and pure. ¹⁵ And out of his mouth went out a sharpe sworde, that with it he should smite the heathen: for he shall rule them with a rod of yron: for he it is that treadeth the wine presse of the fiercenesse and wrath of almightie God. ¹⁶ And he hath vpon his garment, and vpon his thigh a name written, THE KINGS OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. ¹⁷ And I sawe an Angel stand in the sunne, who cryed with a loude voyce, saying to all the foules that did flie by the middes of heauen, Come, and gather your selues together vnto the supper of ye great God, ¹⁸ That ye may eate the flesh of Kings, and the flesh of hie Captaines, and the flesh of mightie men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all freemen, and bondmen, and of small and great. ¹⁹ And I sawe the beast, and the Kings of the earth, and their hostes gathered together to make battell against him that sate on the horse, and against his armie. ²⁰ But ye beast was taken, and with him that false prophet that wrought miracles before him, whereby he deceiued them that receiued ye beastes marke, and them that worshipped his image. These both were aliue cast into a lake of fire, burning with brimstone. ²¹ And the remnant were slayne with the sword of him that sitteth vpon the horse, which commeth out of his mouth, and all the foules were filled full with their flesh.
