⁶ Nowe at the feast, Pilate did deliuer a prisoner vnto them, whomesoeuer they woulde desire.

² Ye know that after two dayes is ye Passeouer, and the Sonne of man shalbe deliuered to be crucified.

⁵ But they sayd, Not on the feast day, least any vprore be among the people.

¹⁵ Nowe at the feast, the gouernour was wont to deliuer vnto the people a prisoner whom they would. ¹⁶ And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas. ¹⁷ When they were then gathered together, Pilate said vnto the, Whether will ye that I let loose vnto you Barabbas, or Iesus which is called Christ? ¹⁸ (For he knewe well, that for enuie they had deliuered him. ¹⁹ Also when he was set downe vpon the iudgement seate, his wife sent to him, saying, Haue thou nothing to do with that iust man: for I haue suffered many things this day in a dreame by reason of him.) ²⁰ But the chiefe Priestes and the Elders had persuaded the people that they shoulde aske Barabbas, and should destroy Iesus. ²¹ Then the gouernour answered, and said vnto them, Whether of the twaine will ye that I let loose vnto you? And they said, Barabbas. ²² Pilate said vnto them, What shall I do then with Iesus, which is called Christ? They all said to him, Let him be crucified. ²³ Then saide the gouernour, But what euill hath he done? Then they cryed the more, saying, Let him be crucified. ²⁴ When Pilate saw that he auailed nothing, but that more tumult was made, he tooke water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this iust man: looke you to it. ²⁵ Then answered all the people, and saide, His bloud be on vs, and on our children. ²⁶ Thus let he Barabbas loose vnto them, and scourged Iesus, and deliuered him to be crucified.

¹⁶ I will therefore chastise him, and let him loose. ¹⁷ (For of necessitie hee must haue let one loose vnto them at the feast.) ¹⁸ Then all ye multitude cried at once, saying, Away with him, and deliuer vnto vs Barabbas: ¹⁹ Which for a certaine insurrection made in the citie, and murder, was cast in prison. ²⁰ Then Pilate spake againe to them, willing to let Iesus loose. ²¹ But they cried, saying, Crucifie, crucifie him. ²² And he sayd vnto them the third time, But what euill hath he done? I finde no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him loose. ²³ But they were instant with loude voyces, and required that he might be crucified: and the voyces of them and of the hie Priests preuailed. ²⁴ So Pilate gaue sentence, that it should be as they required. ²⁵ And he let loose vnto them him that for insurrection and murder was cast into prison, whome they desired, and deliuered Iesus to doe with him what they would.

³⁹ But you haue a custome, that I shoulde deliuer you one loose at the Passeouer: will yee then that I loose vnto you the King of ye Iewes? ⁴⁰ Then cried they all againe, saying, Not him, but Barabbas: nowe this Barabbas was a murtherer.

¹⁶ Then deliuered he him vnto them, to be crucified. And they tooke Iesus, and led him away.

²⁷ When two yeeres were expired, Porcius Festus came into Felix roume: and Felix willing to get fauour of the Iewes, left Paul bound.

⁹ Yet Festus willing to get fauour of the Iewes, answered Paul and saide, Wilt thou goe vp to Hierusalem, and there be iudged of these things before mee?
