³⁵ Then Iames and Iohn the sonnes of Zebedeus came vnto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest doe for vs that we desire.

⁴ Then the woman of Tekoah spake vnto the king, and fel downe on her face to the ground, and did obeysance, and sayd, Helpe, O King. ⁵ Then the King sayd vnto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, I am in deede a widow, and mine husband is dead: ⁶ And thine handmayd had two sonnes, and they two stroue together in the fielde: (and there was none to part them) so the one smote the other, and slew him. ⁷ And beholde, the whole familie is risen against thine handmayde, and they sayde, Deliuer him that smote his brother, that we may kill him for the soule of his brother whome hee slewe, that we may destroy the heire also: so they shall quenche my sparkle which is left, and shall not leaue to mine husband neither name nor posteritie vpon the earth. ⁸ And the King said vnto the woman, Go to thine house, and I wil giue a charge for thee. ⁹ Then the woman of Tekoah said vnto the King, My lord, O King, this trespas be on me, and on my fathers house, and the King and his throne be giltlesse. ¹⁰ And the King sayde, Bring him to me that speaketh against thee, and he shall touche thee no more. ¹¹ Then said she, I pray thee, let the King remember the Lord thy God, that thou wouldest not suffer many reuengers of blood to destroy, lest they slay my sonne. And he answered, As the Lord liueth, there shall not one heare of thy sonne fall to the earth.

¹⁶ Nowe therefore I aske thee one request, refuse me not. And she said vnto him, Say on.

²⁰ Then she sayd, I desire a small request of thee, say me not nay. Then the King sayde vnto her, Aske on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay.

²⁰ Then came to him the mother of Zebedeus children with her sonnes, worshipping him, and desiring a certaine thing of him. ²¹ And he said vnto her, What wouldest thou? She said to him, Graunt that these my two sonnes may sit, the one at thy right hand, and the other at thy left hand in thy kingdome. ²² And Iesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye aske. Are ye able to drinke of the cup that I shall drinke of, and to be baptized with the baptisme that I shalbe baptized with? They said to him, We are able. ²³ And he said vnto them, Ye shall drinke in deede of my cup, and shall be baptized with the baptisme, that I am baptized with, but to sit at my right hande, and at my left hand, is not mine to giue: but it shalbe giuen to them for whome it is prepared of my Father. ²⁴ And when the other ten heard this, they disdained at the two brethren. ²⁵ Therefore Iesus called them vnto him, and saide, We knowe that the lordes of the Gentiles haue domination ouer them, and they that are great, exercise authoritie ouer them. ²⁶ But it shall not be so among you: but whosoeuer will be great among you, let him be your seruant. ²⁷ And whosoeuer will be chiefe among you, let him be your seruant. ²⁸ Euen as the Sonne of man came not to be serued, but to serue, and to giue his life for the ransome of many.

¹⁹ And when hee had gone a litle further thence, he sawe Iames the sonne of Zebedeus, and Iohn his brother, as they were in the ship, mending their nets. ²⁰ And anon hee called them: and they left their father Zebedeus in the shippe with his hired seruants, and went their way after him.

³⁷ And he suffered no man to follow him saue Peter and Iames, and Iohn the brother of Iames.

² And sixe dayes after, Iesus taketh vnto him Peter, and Iames, and Iohn, and carieth them vp into an hie mountaine out of the way alone, and his shape was changed before them.

³³ And hee tooke with him Peter, and Iames, and Iohn, and hee began to be troubled, and in great heauinesse,
