¹⁵ Therefore wee count the proude blessed: euen they that worke wickednesse, are set vp, and they that tempt God, yea, they are deliuered.

²² For all those men which haue seene my glory, and my miracles which I did in Egypt, and in the wildernes, and haue tempted me this ten times, and haue not obeyed my voyce, ²³ Certainely they shall not see the lande, whereof I sware vnto their fathers: neither shall any that prouoke me, see it.

¹⁰ Neuerthelesse Haman refrayned himselfe: and when he came home, he sent, and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.

⁶ The tabernacles of robbers doe prosper, and they are in safetie, that prouoke God, whome God hath enriched with his hand.

⁷ Wherefore do the wicked liue, and waxe olde, and grow in wealth? ⁸ Their seede is established in their sight with them, and their generation before their eyes. ⁹ Their houses are peaceable without feare, and the rod of God is not vpon them. ¹⁰ Their bullocke gendreth, and fayleth not: their cow calueth, and casteth not her calfe. ¹¹ They send forth their children like sheepe, and their sonnes dance. ¹² They take the tabret and harpe, and reioyce in the sound of the organs. ¹³ They spend their dayes in wealth, and suddenly they go downe to the graue. ¹⁴ They say also vnto God, Depart from vs: for we desire not the knowledge of thy wayes. ¹⁵ Who is the Almightie, that we should serue him? and what profit should we haue, if we should pray vnto him?

³⁰ But the wicked is kept vnto the day of destruction, and they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

²³ If thou returne to the Almightie, thou shalt be buylt vp, and thou shalt put iniquitie farre from thy tabernacle.

³ For the wicked hath made boast of his owne heartes desire, and the couetous blesseth himselfe: he contemneth the Lord.

¹⁸ For while he liued, he reioyced himselfe: and men will prayse thee, when thou makest much of thy selfe.

¹² Lo, these are the wicked, yet prosper they alway, and increase in riches.

¹⁸ And tempted God in their heartes in requiring meate for their lust.

⁴¹ Yea, they returned, and tempted God, and limited the Holie one of Israel.

⁵⁶ Yet they tempted, and prouoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies,

⁹ Where your fathers tempted me, proued me, though they had seene my worke.

¹⁴ But lusted with concupiscence in the wildernes, and tempted God in the desert.

¹² The wicked desireth the net of euils: but the roote of the righteous giueth fruite.

¹ I have surely giuen mine heart to all this, and to declare all this, that the iust, and the wise, and their workes are in the hand of God: and no man knoweth eyther loue or hatred of all that is before them. ² All things come alike to all: and the same condition is to the iust and to the wicked, to the good and to the pure, and to the polluted, and to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner, he that sweareth, as he that feareth an othe.

¹⁰ And come and stande before mee in this House, whereupon my Name is called, and saye, We are deliuered, though we haue done all these abominations?

¹ O Lord, if I dispute with thee, thou art righteous: yet let mee talke with thee of thy iudgements: wherefore doeth the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they in wealth that rebelliously transgresse? ² Thou hast planted them, and they haue taken roote: they grow, and bring forth fruite: thou art neere in their mouth, and farre from their reines.

³⁰ The very same houre was this thing fulfilled vpon Nebuchad-nezzar, and hee was driuen from men, and did eate grasse as the oxen, and his body was wet with the dewe of heauen, till his heares were growen as eagles feathers, and his nailes like birds clawes.

²⁰ But when his heart was puft vp, and his minde hardened in pride, hee was deposed from his kingly throne, and they tooke his honour from him. ²¹ And hee was driuen from the sonnes of men, and his heart was made like the beastes, and his dwelling was with the wilde asses: they fed him with grasse like oxen, and his body was wet with the dewe of the heauen, till he knewe, that the most high God bare rule ouer the kingdome of men, and that he appointeth ouer it, whomsoeuer he pleaseth. ²² And thou his sonne, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all these things, ²³ But hast lift thy selfe vp against the Lord of heauen, and they haue brought the vessels of his House before thee, and thou and thy princes, thy wiues and thy concubines haue drunke wine in them, and thou hast praysed the gods of siluer and golde, of brasse, yron, wood and stone, which neither see, neither heare, nor vnderstand: and the God in whose hand thy breath is and all thy wayes, him hast thou not glorified. ²⁴ Then was the palme of the hand sent from him, and hath written this writing. ²⁵ And this is the writing that he hath written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL UPHARSIN. ²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing, MENE, God hath nombred thy kingdome, and hath finished it. ²⁷ TEKEL, thou art wayed in the balance, and art found too light. ²⁸ PERES, thy kingdome is deuided, and giuen to the Medes and Persians.

¹⁶ Then the King commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the denne of lyons: now the King spake, and said vnto Daniel, Thy God, whome thou alway seruest, euen he will deliuer thee.

¹³ Thou art of pure eyes, and canst not see euill: thou canst not behold wickednesse: wherefore doest thou looke vpon the transgressors, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked deuoureth the man, that is more righteous then he? ¹⁴ And makest men as the fishes of the sea, and as the creeping things, that haue no ruler ouer them. ¹⁵ They take vp all with the angle: they catch it in their net, and gather it in their yarne, whereof they reioyce and are glad. ¹⁶ Therefore they sacrifice vnto their net, and burne incense vnto their yarne, because by them their portion is fat and their meat plenteous. ¹⁷ Shall they therefore stretch out their net and not spare continually to slay the nations?

¹⁷ Yee haue wearied the Lord with your woordes: yet yee say, Wherein haue we wearied him? When ye say, Euery one that doeth euill, is good in the sight of the Lord, and he deliteth in them. Or where is the God of iudgement?

¹ For behold, the day commeth that shall burne as an ouen, and all the proude, yea, and all that doe wickedly, shall be stubble, and the day that commeth, shall burne them vp, sayeth the Lord of hostes, and shall leaue them neither roote nor branche.

⁶ And said vnto him, If thou be the Sonne of God, cast thy selfe downe: for it is written, that he wil giue his Angels charge ouer thee, and with their hands they shall lift thee vp, lest at any time thou shouldest dash thy foote against a stone. ⁷ Iesus saide vnto him, It is written againe, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

⁹ Then Peter sayde vnto her, Why haue ye agreed together, to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? beholde, the feete of them which haue buried thine husband, are at the doore, and shall carie thee out.

²¹ And vpon a day appointed, Herod arayed himselfe in royall apparell, and sate on the iudgement seate, and made an oration vnto them.

⁹ Neither let vs tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted him, and were destroyed of serpents.

⁹ Where your fathers tempted me, prooued me, and sawe my workes fourtie yeeres long.

⁵ Likewise ye yonger, submit your selues vnto the elders, and submit your selues euery man, one to another: decke your selues inwardly in lowlinesse of minde: for God resisteth the proude, and giueth grace to the humble.
