¹⁷ Yee haue wearied the Lord with your woordes: yet yee say, Wherein haue we wearied him? When ye say, Euery one that doeth euill, is good in the sight of the Lord, and he deliteth in them. Or where is the God of iudgement?

⁴ Perfect is the worke of the mighty God: for all his wayes are iudgement. God is true, and without wickednesse: iust, and righteous is he.

³ Speake no more presumptuously: let not arrogancie come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him enterprises are established.

⁵ For Iob hath saide, I am righteous, and God hath taken away my iudgement. ⁶ Should I lye in my right? my wound of the arrowe is grieuous without my sinne. ⁷ What man is like Iob, that drinketh scornfulnesse like water? ⁸ Which goeth in the companie of them that worke iniquitie, and walketh with wicked men? ⁹ For he hath saide, It profiteth a man nothing that he should walke with God.

¹⁷ Shal he that hateth iudgement, gouerne? and wilt thou iudge him wicked that is most iust?

³⁶ I desire that Iob may be tryed, vnto the ende touching the answeres for wicked men.

¹⁷ But thou art ful of the iudgement of the wicked, though iudgement and equitie maintaine all things.

¹¹ He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten, he hideth away his face, and will neuer see. ¹² Arise, O Lord God: lift vp thine hande: forget not the poore. ¹³ Wherefore doeth the wicked contemne God? he saith in his heart, Thou wilt not regard.

³ For I feared at the foolish, when I sawe the prosperitie of the wicked. ⁴ For there are no bandes in their death, but they are lustie and strong. ⁵ They are not in trouble as other men, neither are they plagued with other men. ⁶ Therefore pride is as a chayne vnto them, and crueltie couereth them as a garment. ⁷ Their eyes stande out for fatnesse: they haue more then heart can wish. ⁸ They are licentious, and speake wickedly of their oppression: they talke presumptuously. ⁹ They set their mouth against heauen, and their tongue walketh through the earth. ¹⁰ Therefore his people turne hither: for waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. ¹¹ And they say, Howe doeth God know it? or is there knowledge in the most High? ¹² Lo, these are the wicked, yet prosper they alway, and increase in riches. ¹³ Certainely I haue clensed mine heart in vaine, and washed mine hands in innocencie. ¹⁴ For dayly haue I bene punished, and chastened euery morning. ¹⁵ If I say, I will iudge thus, beholde the generation of thy children: I haue trespassed.

⁹ Where your fathers tempted me, proued me, though they had seene my worke. ¹⁰ Fourtie yeeres haue I contended with this generation, and said, They are a people that erre in heart, for they haue not knowen my wayes.

¹¹ Because sentence against an euill worke is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the children of men is fully set in them to doe euill.

¹⁴ My soule hateth your newe moones and your appointed feastes: they are a burden vnto me: I am weary to beare them.

¹⁸ Woe vnto them, that draw iniquitie with cordes of vanitie, and sinne, as with cart ropes: ¹⁹ Which say, Let him make speede: let him hasten his worke, that wee may see it: and let the counsell of the holy one of Israel draw neere and come, that we may knowe it. ²⁰ Woe vnto them that speake good of euill, and euill of good, which put darkenes for light, and light for darkenes, that put bitter for sweete, and sweete for sowre.

¹³ Then he sayd, Heare you nowe, O house of Dauid, Is it a small thing for you to grieue men, that ye will also grieue my God?

¹⁸ Yet therefore will the Lord waite, that he may haue mercy vpon you, and therefore wil he be exalted, that hee may haue compassion vpon you: for the Lord is the God of iudgement. Blessed are all they that waite for him.

²⁴ Thou boughtest mee no sweete sauour with money, neither hast thou made mee drunke with the fatte of thy sacrifices, but thou hast made mee to serue with thy sinnes, and wearied mee with thine iniquities.

⁶ Thou hast forsaken me, sayth the Lord, and gone backward: therefore wil I stretch out mine hand against thee, and destroy thee: for I am weary with repenting.

¹² Then saide hee vnto mee, Sonne of man, hast thou seene what the Ancients of the house of Israel do in the darke, euery one in the chamber of his imagerie? for they say, The Lord seeth vs not, the Lord hath forsaken the earth.

⁹ Then saide he vnto me, The iniquitie of the house of Israel, and Iudah is exceeding great, so that the lande is full of blood, and the citie full of corrupt iudgement: for they say, The Lord hath forsaken the earth, and the Lord seeth vs not.

⁴³ Because thou hast not remembred the dayes of thy youth, but hast prouoked me with all these things, behold, therefore I also haue brought thy way vpon thine head, sayeth the Lord God: yet hast not thou had consideration of all thine abominations.

¹³ Behold, I am pressed vnder you as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaues.

¹² And at that time will I searche Ierusalem with lightes, and visite the men that are frosen in their dregges, and say in their heartes, The Lord will neither doe good nor doe euill.

⁶ A sonne honoureth his father, and a seruant his master. If then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my feare, sayth the Lord of hostes vnto you, O Priestes, that despise my Name? and yee say, Wherein haue we despised thy Name? ⁷ Ye offer vncleane bread vpon mine altar, and you say, Wherein haue we polluted thee? In that ye say the table of the Lord is not to be regarded.

¹⁴ Yet yee say, Wherein? Because the Lord hath beene witnesse betweene thee and the wife of thy youth, against whome thou hast transgressed: yet is shee thy companion, and the wife of thy couenant.

⁸ Will a man spoyle his gods? yet haue ye spoyled me: but ye say, Wherein haue we spoyled thee? In tithes, and offerings.

¹³ Your wordes haue bene stout against me, sayeth the Lord: yet ye say, What haue we spoken against thee? ¹⁴ Ye haue saide, It is in vaine to serue God: and what profite is it that we haue kept his commandement, and that we walked humbly before the Lord of hostes? ¹⁵ Therefore wee count the proude blessed: euen they that worke wickednesse, are set vp, and they that tempt God, yea, they are deliuered.

¹⁸ For Iohn came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a deuill. ¹⁹ The sonne of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Beholde a glutton and a drinker of wine, a friend vnto Publicanes and sinners: but wisedome is iustified of her children.

³ This first vnderstande, that there shall come in the last dayes, mockers, which wil walke after their lustes, ⁴ And say, Where is the promise of his comming? for since the fathers died, all things continue alike from the beginning of the creation.
