³⁰ Giue to euery man that asketh of thee: and of him that taketh away the things that be thine, aske them not againe.

²⁶ If thou take thy neighbours rayment to pledge, thou shalt restore it vnto him before the sunne go downe: ²⁷ For that is his couering only, and this is his garment for his skin: wherin shall he sleepe? therefore when he crieth vnto mee, I will heare him: for I am mercifull.

⁷ If one of thy brethren with thee be poore within any of thy gates in thy land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poore brother: ⁸ But thou shalt open thine hand vnto him, and shalt lend him sufficient for his neede which he hath. ⁹ Beware that there be not a wicked thought in thine heart, to say, The seuenth yeere, the yeere of freedome is at hand: therefore it grieueth thee to looke on thy poore brother, and thou giuest him nought, and he crie vnto the Lord against thee, so that sinne be in thee: ¹⁰ Thou shalt giue him, and let it not grieue thine heart to giue vnto him: for because of this the Lord thy God shall blesse thee in al thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand to.

¹ Nowe there was a great crie of the people, and of their wiues against their brethren the Iewes. ² For there were that said, We, our sonnes and our daughters are many, therefore we take vp corne, that we may eate and liue. ³ And there were that saide, We must gage our landes, and our vineyardes, and our houses, and take vp corne for the famine. ⁴ There were also that said, We haue borowed money for the Kings tribute vpon our landes and our vineyardes. ⁵ And nowe our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, and our sonnes as their sonnes: and lo, we bring into subiection our sonnes and our daughters, as seruants, and there be of our daughters nowe in subiection, and there is no power in our handes: for other men haue our landes and our vineyardes. ⁶ Then was I very angrie when I heard their crie and these wordes. ⁷ And I thought in my minde, and I rebuked the princes, and the rulers, and saide vnto them, You lay burthens euery one vpon his brethren: and I set a great assemblie against them, ⁸ And I said vnto them, We (according to our abilitie) haue redeemed our brethren the Iewes, which were solde vnto the heathen: and will you sell your brethren againe, or shall they be solde vnto vs? Then helde they their peace, and could not answere. ⁹ I said also, That which ye do, is not good. Ought ye not to walke in the feare of our God, for the reproche of the heathen our enemies? ¹⁰ For euen I, my brethren, and my seruants doe lende them money and corne: I pray you, let vs leaue off this burden. ¹¹ Restore, I pray you, vnto them this day their landes, their vineyardes, their oliues, and their houses, and remit the hundreth part of the siluer and of the corne, of the wine, and of the oyle that ye exact of them. ¹² Then said they, We will restore it, and will not require it of them: we will doe as thou hast said. Then I called the Priestes, and caused them to sweare, that they shoulde doe according to this promise. ¹³ So I shooke my lappe, and said, So let God shake out euery man that wil not perfourme this promise from his house, and from his labour: euen thus let him be shaken out, and emptied. And all the Cogregation said, Amen, and praised the Lord: and the people did according to this promise. ¹⁴ And from the time that the King gaue me charge to be gouernour in the lande of Iudah, from the twentieth yeere, euen vnto the two and thirtieth yeere of King Artahshashte, that is, twelue yeere, I, and my brethren haue not eaten the bread of the gouernour. ¹⁵ For the former gouernours that were before me, had bene chargeable vnto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, besides fourtie shekels of siluer: yea, and their seruants bare rule ouer the people: but so did not I, because of the feare of God. ¹⁶ But rather I fortified a portion in the worke of this wall, and we bought no lande, and all my seruants came thither together vnto the worke. ¹⁷ Moreouer there were at my table an hundreth and fiftie of the Iewes, and rulers, which came vnto vs from among the heathen that are about vs. ¹⁸ And there was prepared daily an oxe, and sixe chosen sheepe, and birdes were prepared for me, and within ten dayes wine for all in abundance. Yet for all this I required not the bread of the gouernour: for the bondage was grieuous vnto this people. ¹⁹ Remember me, O my God, in goodnesse, according to all that I haue done for this people.

¹ To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid. Blessed is he that iudgeth wisely of the poore: the Lord shall deliuer him in ye time of trouble.

⁹ He hath distributed and giuen to ye poore: his righteousnesse remaineth for euer: his horne shalbe exalted with glory.

²⁷ Withhold not the good from the owners thereof, though there be power in thine hand to doe it. ²⁸ Say not vnto thy neighbour, Go and come againe, and to morow wil I giue thee, if thou now haue it.

²⁴ There is that scattereth, and is more increased: but hee that spareth more then is right, surely commeth to pouertie. ²⁵ The liberall person shall haue plentie: and he that watereth, shall also haue raine.

¹⁷ He that hath mercy vpon the poore, lendeth vnto the Lord: and the Lord will recompense him that which he hath giuen.

²⁶ He coueteth euermore greedily, but the righteous giueth and spareth not.

⁹ He that hath a good eye, he shalbe blessed: for he giueth of his bread vnto the poore.

¹⁶ When I applied mine heart to knowe wisedome, and to behold the busines that is done on earth, that neither day nor night the eyes of man take sleepe,

⁷ Is it not to deale thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poore that wander, vnto thine house? when thou seest the naked, that thou couer him, and hide not thy selfe from thine owne flesh? ⁸ Then shall thy light breake foorth as the morning, and thine health shall grow speedily: thy righteousnes shall goe before thee, and the glorie of the Lord shall embrace thee. ⁹ Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answere: thou shalt cry and hee shall say, Here I am: if thou take away from the mids of thee the yoke, the putting foorth of the finger, and wicked speaking: ¹⁰ If thou powre out thy soule to the hungrie, and refresh the troubled soule: then shall thy light spring out in the darkenes, and thy darkenes shalbe as the noone day.

¹ Moreover, the Spirite lift me vp, and brought me vnto the East gate of the Lordes house, which lyeth Eastwarde, and beholde, at the entrie of the gate were fiue and twentie men: among whome I sawe Iaazaniah the sonne of Azur, and Pelatiah the sonne of Benaiah, the princes of the people. ² Then said he vnto me, Sonne of man, these are the men that imagine mischiefe, and deuise wicked counsell in this citie.

⁴² Giue to him that asketh, and from him that would borowe of thee, turne not away. ⁴³ Ye haue heard that it hath bin said, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour, and hate your enemie. ⁴⁴ But I say vnto you, Loue your enemies: blesse them that curse you: doe good to them that hate you, and pray for them which hurt you, and persecute you, ⁴⁵ That ye may be the children of your father that is in heauen: for he maketh his sunne to arise on the euill, and the good, and sendeth raine on the iust, and vniust. ⁴⁶ For if ye loue them, which loue you, what rewarde shall you haue? Doe not the Publicanes euen the same? ⁴⁷ And if ye be friendly to your brethren onely, what singular thing doe ye? doe not euen the Publicanes likewise? ⁴⁸ Ye shall therefore be perfit, as your Father which is in heauen, is perfite.

¹² And forgiue vs our dettes, as we also forgiue our detters.

²⁷ Then that seruants Lord had compassion, and loosed him, and forgaue him the dette. ²⁸ But when the seruant was departed, hee found one of his felow seruants, which ought him an hundred pence, and he layde hands on him, and thratled him, saying, Pay me that thou owest. ²⁹ Then his fellow seruant fell downe at his feete, and besought him, saying, Refraine thine anger towards me, and I will pay thee all. ³⁰ Yet he would not, but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the dette.

³⁵ So likewise shall mine heauenly Father doe vnto you, except ye forgiue from your hearts, eche one to his brother their trespasses.

³⁸ Giue, and it shalbe giuen vnto you: a good measure, pressed downe, shaken together and running ouer shall men giue into your bosome: for with what measure ye mete, with the same shall men mete to you againe.

⁴¹ Therefore, giue almes of those thinges which you haue, and beholde, all thinges shall be cleane to you.

³³ Sell that ye haue, and giue almes: make you bagges, which waxe not old, a treasure that can neuer faile in heauen, where no theefe commeth, neither mothe corrupteth.

²² Nowe when Iesus heard that, he saide vnto him, Yet lackest thou one thing. Sell all that euer thou hast, and distribute vnto the poore, and thou shalt haue treasure in heauen, and come follow mee.

³⁵ I haue shewed you all things, howe that so labouring, ye ought to support the weake, and to remember the wordes of the Lord Iesus, howe that hee saide, It is a blessed thing to giue, rather then to receiue.

⁹ For ye knowe the grace of our Lord Iesus Christ, that hee being rich, for your sakes became poore, that yee through his pouertie might be made rich.

⁶ This yet remember, that he which soweth sparingly, shall reape also sparingly, and hee that soweth liberally, shall reape also liberally. ⁷ As euery man wisheth in his heart, so let him giue, not grudgingly, or of necessitie: for God loueth a cheerefull giuer. ⁸ And God is able to make all grace to abound towarde you, that yee alwayes hauing all sufficiencie in all thinges, may abounde in euery good worke, ⁹ (As it is written, He hath sparsed abroad and hath giuen to the poore: his beneuolence remayneth for euer. ¹⁰ Also hee that findeth seede to the sower, will minister likewise bread for foode, and multiplie your seede, and increase the fruites of your beneuolence,) ¹¹ That on all partes yee may bee made rich vnto all liberalitie, which causeth through vs thankesgiuing vnto God. ¹² For the ministration of this seruice not onely supplieth the necessities of the Saintes, but also aboundantly causeth many to giue thankes to God, ¹³ (Which by the experiment of this ministration praise God for your voluntarie submission to the Gospell of Christ, and for your liberall distribution to them, and to all men) ¹⁴ And in their praier for you, to log after you greatly, for the aboundant grace of God in you.

²⁸ Let him that stole, steale no more: but let him rather labour, and worke with his handes the thing which is good, that hee may haue to giue vnto him that needeth.
