¹³ But the Publican standing a farre off, woulde not lift vp so much as his eyes to heauen, but smote his brest, saying, O God, be mercifull to me a sinner.

¹² And when he was in tribulation, he prayed to the Lord his God, and humbled him selfe greatly before the God of his fathers, ¹³ And prayed vnto him: and God was entreated of him, and heard his prayer, and brought him againe to Ierusalem into his kingdome: then Manasseh knewe that the Lord was God.

¹⁹ And his prayer and how God was intreated of him, and all his sinne, and his trespasse, and the places wherein he built hie places, and set groues and images (before he was humbled) behold, they are written in the booke of the Seers.

²³ And he humbled not him selfe before the Lord, as Manasseh his father had humbled himselfe: but this Amon trespassed more and more.

⁶ And said, O my God, I am confounded and ashamed, to lift vp mine eyes vnto thee my God: for our iniquities are increased ouer our head, and our trespasse is growen vp vnto the heauen.

⁶ Therefore I abhorre my selfe, and repent in dust and ashes.

⁷ Remember not the sinnes of my youth, nor my rebellions, but according to thy kindenesse remember thou me, euen for thy goodnesse sake, O Lord.

¹¹ For thy Names sake, O Lord, be merciful vnto mine iniquitie, for it is great.

¹² For innumerable troubles haue compassed mee: my sinnes haue taken such holde vpon me, that I am not able to looke vp: yea, they are moe in nomber then the heares of mine head: therefore mine heart hath failed me.

⁴ Therefore I saide, Lord haue mercie vpon me: heale my soule, for I haue sinned against thee.

¹ To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David, when the Prophet Nathan came unto him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba. Have mercie vpon me, O God, according to thy louing kindnes: according to the multitude of thy compassions put away mine iniquities. ² Wash me throughly from mine iniquitie, and clense me from my sinne. ³ For I know mine iniquities, and my sinne is euer before me.

¹⁵ But thou, O Lord, art a pitifull God and mercifull, slowe to anger and great in kindenes and trueth. ¹⁶ Turne vnto me, and haue mercy vpon me: giue thy strength vnto thy seruant, and saue the sonne of thine handmayd.

⁶ We haue sinned with our fathers: we haue committed iniquitie, and done wickedly.

⁴¹ VAV. And let thy louing kindnesse come vnto me, O Lord, and thy saluation according to thy promise.

³ If thou, O Lord, straightly markest iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? ⁴ But mercie is with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

⁷ Let Israel waite on the Lord: for with the Lord is mercie, and with him is great redemption.

¹⁸ Come nowe, and let vs reason together, sayth the Lord: though your sinnes were as crimsin, they shalbe made white as snowe: though they were red like skarlet, they shalbe as wooll.

⁵ Then I sayd, Wo is me: for I am vndone, because I am a man of polluted lips, and I dwell in the middes of a people of polluted lips: for mine eyes haue seene the King and Lord of hostes.

⁵ Thou diddest meete him, that reioyced in thee, and did iustly: they remembred thee in thy wayes: beholde, thou art angrie, for we haue sinned: yet in them is continuance, and we shall be saued. ⁶ But we haue all bene as an vncleane thing, and all our righteousnes is as filthie cloutes, and we all doe fade like a leafe, and our iniquities like the winde haue taken vs away.

¹⁸ I haue heard Ephraim lamenting thus, Thou hast corrected me, and I was chastised as an vntamed calfe: conuert thou me, and I shalbe conuerted: for thou art the Lord my God. ¹⁹ Surely after that I conuerted, I repented: and after that I was instructed, I smote vpon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, euen confounded, because I did beare the reproch of my youth.

⁶³ That thou mayest remember, and be ashamed, and neuer open thy mouth any more: because of thy shame when I am pacified toward thee, for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord God.

⁵ We haue sinned, and haue committed iniquitie and haue done wickedly, yea, we haue rebelled, and haue departed from thy precepts, and from thy iudgements.

⁷ O Lord, righteousnes belongeth vnto thee, and vnto vs open shame, as appeareth this day vnto euery man of Iudah, and to the inhabitants of Ierusalem: yea, vnto all Israel, both neere and farre off, through all the countreys, whither thou hast driuen them, because of their offences, that they haue committed against thee. ⁸ O Lord, vnto vs apperteineth open shame, to our Kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we haue sinned against thee. ⁹ Yet compassion and forgiuenesse is in the Lord our God, albeit we haue rebelled against him. ¹⁰ For we haue not obeyed the voyce of the Lord our God, to walke in his lawes, which he had laide before vs by the ministerie of his seruants the Prophets. ¹¹ Yea, all Israel haue transgressed thy Lawe, and are turned backe, and haue not heard thy voyce: therefore the curse is powred vpon vs, and the othe that is written in the Lawe of Moses the seruant of God, because we haue sinned against him.

¹⁸ O my God, encline thine eare and heare: open thine eyes, and beholde our desolations, and the citie whereupon thy Name is called: for we doe not present our supplications before thee for our owne righteousnes, but for thy great tender mercies. ¹⁹ O Lord, heare, O Lord forgiue, O Lord consider, and doe it: deferre not, for thine owne sake, O my God: for thy Name is called vpon thy citie, and vpon thy people.

¹³ But goe yee and learne what this is, I will haue mercie, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.

⁸ Now when Simon Peter saw it, he fel down at Iesus knees, saying, Lord, go from me: for I am a sinfull man.

⁶ Then Iesus went with them: but when he was now not farre from the house, the Centurion sent friendes to him, saying vnto him, Lord, trouble not thy selfe: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter vnder my roofe: ⁷ Wherefore I thought not my selfe worthy to come vnto thee: but say the word, and my seruant shalbe whole:

¹⁸ I wil rise and goe to my father, and say vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heaue, and before thee, ¹⁹ And am no more worthy to be called thy sonne: make me as one of thy hired seruants. ²⁰ So hee arose and came to his father, and when hee was yet a great way off, his father sawe him, and had compassion, and ranne and fell on his necke, and kissed him. ²¹ And the sonne sayde vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heauen, and before thee, and am no more worthie to be called thy sonne.

¹² And as hee entred into a certaine towne, there met him tenne men that were lepers, which stoode a farre off.

⁴⁰ But the other answered, and rebuked him, saying, Fearest thou not God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? ⁴¹ We are in deede righteously here: for we receiue things worthy of that we haue done: but this man hath done nothing amisse. ⁴² And he sayd vnto Iesus, Lord, remember me, when thou commest into thy kingdome. ⁴³ Then Iesus said vnto him, Verely I say vnto thee, to day shalt thou be with me in Paradise.

⁴⁸ And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things, which were done, smote their brestes, and returned.

³⁷ Now when they heard it, they were pricked in their heartes, and said vnto Peter and the other Apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we doe?

⁸ But God setteth out his loue towards vs, seeing that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for vs.

²⁰ Moreouer the Law entred thereupon that the offence shoulde abound: neuerthelesse, where sinne abounded, there grace abounded much more: ²¹ That as sinne had reigned vnto death, so might grace also reigne by righteousnesse vnto eternall life, through Iesus Christ our Lord.

¹¹ For beholde, this thing that ye haue bene godly sory, what great care it hath wrought in you: yea, what clearing of yourselues: yea, what indignation: yea, what feare: yea, howe great desire: yea, what a zeale: yea, what reuenge: in all things ye haue shewed your selues, that ye are pure in this matter.

¹⁵ This is a true saying, and by all meanes worthy to be receiued, that Christ Iesus came into the worlde to saue sinners, of whom I am chiefe.

¹⁶ Let vs therefore goe boldly vnto ye throne of grace, that we may receiue mercy, and finde grace to helpe in time of neede.

¹² For I will bee mercifull to their vnrighteousnes, and I wil remember their sinnes and their iniquities no more.

⁸ If we say that we haue no sinne, we deceiue our selues, and trueth is not in vs. ⁹ If we acknowledge our sinnes, he is faithfull and iust, to forgiue vs our sinnes, and to clense vs from all vnrighteousnes. ¹⁰ If wee say we haue not sinned, wee make him a liar, and his word is not in vs.
