⁷ Remember, I pray thee: who euer perished, being an innocent? or where were the vpright destroyed?

²⁰ Behold, God will not cast away an vpright man, neither will he take the wicked by the hand,

²² This is one point: therefore I said, Hee destroyeth the perfite and the wicked. ²³ If the scourge should suddenly slay, should God laugh at the punishment of the innocent?

⁷ He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous, but they are with Kings in ye throne, where he placeth them for euer: thus they are exalted.

²⁵ I haue beene yong, and am olde: yet I sawe neuer the righteous forsaken, nor his seede begging bread.

¹⁵ Beholde the worke of God: for who can make straight that which he hath made crooked?

¹ I have surely giuen mine heart to all this, and to declare all this, that the iust, and the wise, and their workes are in the hand of God: and no man knoweth eyther loue or hatred of all that is before them. ² All things come alike to all: and the same condition is to the iust and to the wicked, to the good and to the pure, and to the polluted, and to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner, he that sweareth, as he that feareth an othe.

⁴ Nowe when ye Barbarians saw the worme hang on his hand, they said among themselues, This man surely is a murtherer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet Vengeance hath not suffered to liue.

⁹ The Lord knoweth to deliuer the godly out of tentation, and to reserue the vniust vnto the day of iudgement vnder punishment.
