¹ Bvt now they that are yonger then I, mocke me: yea, they whose fathers I haue refused to set with the dogges of my flockes.

²³ And he went vp from thence vnto Beth-el. And as he was going vp the way, litle children came out of the citie, and mocked him, and saide vnto him, Come vp, thou balde head, come vp, thou balde head.

⁴ I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth vpon God, and he heareth him: the iust and the vpright is laughed to scorne.

¹³ He hath remooued my brethre farre from me, and also mine acquaintance were strangers vnto me. ¹⁴ My neighbours haue forsaken me, and my familiars haue forgotten me. ¹⁵ They that dwel in mine house, and my maydes tooke me for a stranger: for I was a stranger in their sight. ¹⁶ I called my seruant, but he would not answere, though I prayed him with my mouth. ¹⁷ My breath was strange vnto my wife, though I prayed her for the childrens sake of mine owne body. ¹⁸ The wicked also despised mee, and when I rose, they spake against me. ¹⁹ All my secret friends abhorred me, and they whome I loued, are turned against me.

⁸ The yong men saw me, and hid themselues, and the aged arose, and stood vp. ⁹ The princes stayed talke, and layde their hand on their mouth. ¹⁰ The voyce of princes was hidde, and their tongue cleaued to the roofe of their mouth.

¹⁵ But in mine aduersitie they reioyced, and gathered them selues together: the abiects assembled themselues against me, and knewe not: they tare me and ceased not, ¹⁶ With the false skoffers at bankets, gnashing their teeth against me.

¹² They that sate in the gate, spake of mee, and the drunkards sang of me.

⁵ The people shalbe oppressed one of another, and euery one by his neighbour: the children shall presume against the ancient, and the vile against the honourable.

⁶⁵ And some began to spit at him, and to couer his face, and to beate him with fists, and to say vnto him, Prophesie. And the sergeants smote him with their roddes.

¹⁷ And clad him with purple, and platted a crowne of thornes, and put it about his head, ¹⁸ And began to salute him, saying, Haile, King of the Iewes. ¹⁹ And they smote him on the head with a reede, and spat vpon him, and bowed the knees, and did him reuerence. ²⁰ And whe they had mocked him, they tooke the purple off him, and put his owne clothes on him, and led him out to crucifie him.

¹⁴ And sayd vnto them, Ye haue brought this man vnto me, as one that peruerted the people: and beholde, I haue examined him before you, and haue found no fault in this man, of those things whereof ye accuse him:

¹⁸ Then all ye multitude cried at once, saying, Away with him, and deliuer vnto vs Barabbas:

³⁵ And the people stoode, and behelde: and the rulers mocked him with them, saying, He saued others: let him saue himselfe, if hee be that Christ, the Chosen of God.

³⁹ And one of the euill doers, which were hanged, railed on him, saying, If thou be that Christ, saue thy selfe and vs.

⁵ But the Iewes which beleeued not, mooued with enuie, tooke vnto them certaine vagabonds and wicked fellowes, and whe they had assembled the multitude, they made a tumult in the citie, and made assault against the house of Iason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

¹² One of themselues, euen one of their owne prophets said, The Cretians are alwaies liars, euill beastes, slowe bellies.
