⁸ Babel is suddenly fallen, and destroyed: howle for her, bring balme for her sore, if she may be healed.

⁶ Howle you, for the day of the Lord is at hande: it shall come as a destroier from the Almightie. ⁷ Therefore shall all hands be weakened, and all mens hearts shall melt,

⁹ And beholde, this mans charet commeth with two horsemen. And he answered and said, Babel is fallen: it is fallen, and all the images of her gods hath he broken vnto the ground.

⁹ But these two thinges shall come to thee suddenly on one day, the losse of children and widowhoode: they shall come vpon thee in their perfection, for the multitude of thy diuinations, and for the great abundance of thine inchanters.

²² Is there no balme at Gilead? is there no Physition there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recouered.

¹² For thus saith the Lord, Thy bruising is incurable, and thy wound is dolorous. ¹³ There is none to iudge thy cause, or to lay a plaister: there are no medicines, nor help for thee. ¹⁴ All thy louers haue forgotten thee: they seeke thee not: for I haue striken thee with the wound of an enemie, and with a sharpe chastisement for ye multitude of thine iniquities, because thy sinnes were increased. ¹⁵ Why cryest thou for thine affliction? thy sorowe is incurable, for the multitude of thine iniquities: because thy sinnes were increased, I haue done these things vnto thee.

¹¹ Goe vp vnto Gilead, and take balme, O virgine, the daughter of Egypt: in vaine shalt thou vse many medicines: for thou shalt haue no health.

²⁰ Moab is cofouded: for it is destroied: howle, and cry, tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is made waste,

³¹ Therefore will I howle for Moab, and I will crie out for all Moab: mine heart shall mourne for the men of Kir-heres.

² Declare among the nations, and publish it, and set vp a standart, proclaime it and conceale it not: say, Babel is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken downe: her idols are confounded, and their images are burst in pieces.

⁴¹ How is Sheshach taken! and howe is the glory of the whole earth taken! how is Babel become an astonishment among the nations!

³⁰ And shall cause their voyce to be heard against thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast dust vpon their heads, and wallow theselues in the ashes. ³¹ They shall plucke off their heare for thee and gird them with a sackecloth, and they shall weepe for thee with sorow of heart and bitter mourning. ³² And in their mourning, they shall take vp a lametation for thee, saying, What citie is like Tyrus, so destroied in the middes of the sea!

² Sonne of man, prophesie, and say, Thus sayth the Lord God, Howle and cry, Wo be vnto this day.

²⁴ Then was the palme of the hand sent from him, and hath written this writing.

³¹ And Darius of the Medes tooke the kingdome, being threescore and two yeere olde.

¹⁹ There is no healing of thy wounde: thy plague is grieuous: all that heare the brute of thee, shall clap the handes ouer thee: for vpon whome hath not thy malice passed continually?

⁸ And there followed another Angel, saying, Babylon that great citie is fallen, it is fallen: for she made all nations to drinke of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

² And he cryed out mightily with a loud voyce, saying, It is fallen, it is fallen, Babylon that great citie, and is become the habitation of deuils, and the holde of all foule spirits, and a cage of euery vncleane and hatefull birde.

⁸ Therefore shall her plagues come at one day, death, and sorowe, and famine, and she shalbe burnt with fire: for that God which condemneth her, is a strong Lord. ⁹ And the kings of the earth shall bewayle her, and lament for her, which haue committed fornication, and liued in pleasure with her, when they shall see that smoke of that her burning, ¹⁰ And shall stand a farre off for feare of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great citie Babylon, that mightie citie: for in one houre is thy iudgement come. ¹¹ And the marchants of the earth shall weepe and wayle ouer her: for no man byeth their ware any more.

¹⁷ For in one houre so great riches are come to desolation. And euery shipmaster, and all the people that occupie shippes, and shipmen, and whosoeuer traffike on the sea, shall stand a farre off, ¹⁸ And crie, when they see that smoke of that her burning, saying, What citie was like vnto this great citie? ¹⁹ And they shall cast dust on their heads, and crie, weeping, and wayling, and say, Alas, alas, that great citie, wherein were made rich all that had ships on the sea by her costlinesse: for in one houre she is made desolate.
