⁷ O Lord, thou hast deceiued me, and I am deceiued: thou art stronger then I, and hast preuailed: I am in derision daily: euery one mocketh me.

²² Wherefore Moses returned to the Lord, and saide, Lord, why hast thou afflicted this people? wherefore hast thou thus sent me? ²³ For since I came to Pharaoh to speake in thy Name, he hath vexed this people, and yet thou hast not deliuered thy people.

¹¹ And Moses saide vnto the Lord, Wherefore hast thou vexed thy seruant? and why haue I not found fauour in thy sight, seeing thou hast put the charge of al this people vpon mee? ¹² Haue I conceiued al this people? or haue I begotte them, that thou shouldest say vnto me, Cary them in thy bosome (as a nurse beareth the sucking childe) vnto the lande, for the which thou swarest vnto their fathers? ¹³ Where should I haue flesh to giue vnto al this people? for they weepe vnto me, saying, Giue vs flesh that we may eate. ¹⁴ I am not able to beare al this people alone, for it is too heauie for me. ¹⁵ Therefore if thou deale thus with mee, I pray thee, if I haue founde fauour in thy sight, kill me, that I behold not my miserie.

²³ And he went vp from thence vnto Beth-el. And as he was going vp the way, litle children came out of the citie, and mocked him, and saide vnto him, Come vp, thou balde head, come vp, thou balde head.

⁶ But I am a worme, and not a man: a shame of men, and the contempt of the people. ⁷ All they that see me, haue me in derision: they make a mowe and nod the head, saying,

¹⁵ But in mine aduersitie they reioyced, and gathered them selues together: the abiects assembled themselues against me, and knewe not: they tare me and ceased not, ¹⁶ With the false skoffers at bankets, gnashing their teeth against me.

⁹ For the zeale of thine house hath eaten mee, and the rebukes of them that rebuked thee, are fallen vpon me. ¹⁰ I wept and my soule fasted, but that was to my reproofe. ¹¹ I put on a sacke also: and I became a prouerbe vnto them. ¹² They that sate in the gate, spake of mee, and the drunkards sang of me.

⁶ Then said I, Oh, Lord God, behold, I can not speake, for I am a childe. ⁷ But the Lord said vnto me, Say not, I am a childe: for thou shalt goe to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoeuer I command thee, shalt thou speake. ⁸ Be not afraide of their faces: for I am with thee to deliuer thee, saith the Lord.

¹⁸ For I, beholde, I this day haue made thee a defenced citie, and an yron pillar and walles of brasse against the whole lande, against the Kings of Iudah, and against the princes thereof, against the Priestes thereof and against the people of the lande. ¹⁹ For they shall fight against thee, but they shall not preuaile against thee: for I am with thee to deliuer thee, sayth the Lord.

¹⁰ Wo is mee, my mother, that thou hast borne mee, a contentious man, and a man that striueth with the whole earth I haue neither lent on vsury, nor men haue lent vnto me on vsurie: yet euery one doeth curse me.

¹⁸ Why is mine heauines continuall? and my plague desperate and cannot be healed? why art thou vnto me as a lyar, and as waters that faile?

¹⁶ But I haue not thrust in my selfe for a pastour after thee, neither haue I desired the day of miserie, thou knowest: that which came out of my lips, was right before thee.

⁹ Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speake any more in his Name. But his worde was in mine heart as a burning fire shut vp in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

²⁶ The Lord hath made thee Priest for Iehoiada the Priest, that yee should bee officers in the House of the Lord, for euery man that raueth and maketh himselfe a Prophet, to put him in prison and in the stockes.

¹⁴ I was a derision to all my people, and their song all the day.

¹⁴ So the spirit lift me vp, and tooke me away and I went in bitternesse, and indignation of my spirite, but the hand of the Lord was strong vpon me.

⁷ The daies of visitation are come: the daies of recompence are come: Israel shall knowe it: the Prophet is a foole: the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquitie: therefore the hatred is great.

⁸ Yet notwithstanding I am full of power by the Spirite of the Lord, and of iudgement, and of strength to declare vnto Iaakob his transgression, and to Israel his sinne.

¹⁴ All these thinges heard the Pharises also which were couetous, and they scoffed at him.

⁶³ And the men that helde Iesus, mocked him, and strooke him. ⁶⁴ And when they had blindfolded him, they smote him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophecie who it is that smote thee.

¹¹ And Herod with his men of warre, despised him, and mocked him, and arayed him in white, and sent him againe to Pilate.

³⁵ And the people stoode, and behelde: and the rulers mocked him with them, saying, He saued others: let him saue himselfe, if hee be that Christ, the Chosen of God. ³⁶ The souldiers also mocked him, and came and offered him vineger,

¹⁸ Then certaine Philosophers of the Epicures, and of the Stoickes, disputed with him, and some sayde, What will this babler say? Others sayde, He seemeth to be a setter forth of straunge gods (because hee preached vnto them Iesus, and the resurrection.)

³² Now when they heard of the resurrection from the dead, some mocked, and other sayde, We will heare thee againe of this thing.

⁹ For I thinke that God hath set forth vs the last Apostles, as men appointed to death: for we are made a gasing stocke vnto the worlde, and to the Angels, and to men. ¹⁰ We are fooles for Christes sake, and ye are wise in Christ: we are weake, and ye are strong: ye are honourable, and we are despised. ¹¹ Vnto this houre we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and haue no certaine dwelling place, ¹² And labour, working with our owne handes: we are reuiled, and yet we blesse: we are persecuted, and suffer it. ¹³ We are euill spoken of, and we pray: we are made as the filth of the world, the offskowring of all things, vnto this time.

⁶ Or I only and Barnabas, haue not we power not to worke?

³⁶ And others haue bene tryed by mockings and scourgings, yea, moreouer by bondes and prisonment.
