¹⁶ The Lord called thy name, A greene oliue tree, faire, and of goodly fruite: but with noyse and great tumult he hath set fyre vpon it, and the branches of it are broken.

⁸ But I shall bee like a greene oliue tree in the house of God: for I trusted in the mercie of God for euer and euer.

¹⁶ It is burnt with fire and cut downe: and they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

² For lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee, haue lifted vp the head.

³⁰ For ye shalbe as an oke, whose leafe fadeth: and as a garden that hath no water. ³¹ And the strong shall be as towe, and the maker thereof, as a sparke: and they shall both burne together, and none shall quench them.

¹¹ When the boughes of it are drie, they shalbe broken: the women come, and set them on fire: for it is a people of none vnderstading: therefore hee that made them, shall not haue compassion of them, and he that formed them, shall haue no mercie on them.

¹⁴ But I will visite you according to the fruite of your workes, saith the Lord, and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall deuoure rounde about it.

⁴ Behold, it is cast in the fire to be consumed: the fire consumeth both the endes of it, and the middes of it is burnt. Is it meete for any worke? ⁵ Behold, when it was whole, it was meete for no worke: how much lesse shall it bee meete for any worke, when the fire hath consumed it, and it is burnt? ⁶ Therefore thus sayth the Lord God, As the vine tree, that is among the trees of the forest, which I haue giuen to the fire to be consumed, so will I giue the inhabitants of Ierusalem. ⁷ And I will set my face against them: they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall consume them: and ye shall know, that I am the Lord, when I set my face against them,

⁴⁷ And say to the forest of the South, Heare the worde of the Lord: thus saith the Lord God, Beholde, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall deuoure all the greene wood in thee, and all the drie wood: the continuall flame shall not bee quenched, and euery face from the South to the North shall be burnt therein. ⁴⁸ And all flesh shall see, that I the Lord haue kindled it, and it shall not bee quenched. Then saide I, Ah Lord God, they say of me, Doeth not he speake parables?

¹⁰ And now also is the axe put to the roote of the trees: therfore euery tree which bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewen downe, and cast into ye fire.

⁶ If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branche, and withereth: and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they burne.

¹⁷ And though some of the branches be broken off, and thou being a wilde Oliue tree, wast graft in for them, and made partaker of the roote, and fatnesse of the Oliue tree. ¹⁸ Boast not thy selfe against the branches: and if thou boast thy selfe, thou bearest not the roote, but the roote thee. ¹⁹ Thou wilt say then, The branches are broken off, that I might be graft in. ²⁰ Well: through vnbeliefe they are broken off, and thou standest by faith: bee not hie minded, but feare. ²¹ For if God spared not the naturall branches, take heede, least he also spare not thee. ²² Beholde therefore the bountifulnesse, and seueritie of God: towarde them which haue fallen, seueritie: but toward thee, bountifulnesse, if thou continue in his bountifulnesse: or els thou shalt also be cut off. ²³ And they also, if they abide not still in vnbeliefe, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graffe them in againe. ²⁴ For if thou wast cut out of the Oliue tree, which was wilde by nature, and wast graffed contrary to nature in a right Oliue tree, how much more shall they that are by nature, bee graffed in their owne Oliue tree?
