¹² Therefore wil I number you to the sword, and all you shall bowe downe to the slaughter, because I called, and ye did not answere: I spake, and ye heard not, but did euil in my sight, and did chuse that thing which I would not.

²⁵ And I wil send a sword vpon you, that shall auenge the quarel of my couenant: and when ye are gathered in your cities, I wil send the pestilence among you, and ye shall be deliuered into the hand of the enemie.

²⁵ The sworde shall kill them without, and in the chambers feare: both the yong man and the yong woman, the suckeling with the man of gray heare.

¹⁵ Therefore the Lord God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising earely and sending: for he had compassion on his people, and on his habitation. ¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God and despised his wordes, and misused his Prophets, vntill the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, and till there was no remedie.

²⁴ Because I haue called, and ye refused: I haue stretched out mine hand, and none woulde regarde. ²⁵ But ye haue despised all my counsell, and would none of my correction. ²⁶ I will also laugh at your destruction, and mocke, when your feare commeth. ²⁷ Whe your feare cometh like sudden desolation, and your destruction shall come like a whirle wind: whe affliction and anguish shall come vpon you, ²⁸ Then shall they call vpon me, but I will not answere: they shall seeke me early, but they shall not finde me, ²⁹ Because they hated knowledge, and did not chuse the feare of the Lord. ³⁰ They would none of my counsell, but despised all my correction. ³¹ Therefore shall they eate of ye fruite of their owne way, and be filled with their owne deuises. ³² For ease slaieth the foolish, and the prosperitie of fooles destroyeth them. ³³ But he that obeyeth me, shall dwell safely, and be quiet from feare of euill.

¹⁶ Wash you, make you cleane: take away the euill of your workes from before mine eyes: cease to doe euill.

²⁵ Thy men shall fall by the sworde, and thy strength in the battell.

⁴ Without me euery one shall fall among them that are bound, and they shall fall downe among the slayne: yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

¹ In that day the Lord with his sore and great and mightie sword shall visite Liuiathan, that pearcing serpent, euen Liuiathan, that crooked serpent, and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

²⁸ But when I behelde, there was none, and when I inquired of them, there was no counsellor, and when I demaunded of them, they answered not a woorde.

² Wherefore came I, and there was no man? I called, and none answered: is mine hand so shortened, that it cannot helpe? or haue I no power to deliuer? Beholde, at my rebuke I drie vp the Sea: I make the floods desert: their fish rotteth for want of water, and dieth for thirst.

³ A people that prouoked me euer vnto my face: that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense vpon brickes.

³ He that killeth a bullocke, is as if he slewe a man: he that sacrificeth a sheepe, as if he cut off a dogges necke: he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swines blood: he that remembreth incense, as if he blessed an idole: yea, they haue chosen their owne wayes, and their soule deliteth in their abominations. ⁴ Therefore will I chuse out their delusions, and I will bring their feare vpon them, because I called, and none woulde answere: I spake and they woulde not heare: but they did euill in my sight, and chose the things which I would not.

¹³ Therefore nowe because yee haue done all these woorkes, sayeth the Lord, (and I rose vp earely and spake vnto you: but when I spake, yee would not heare me, neither when I called, would yee answere).

¹⁷ For mine eyes are vpon al their wayes: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquitie hid from mine eyes.

²¹ Therefore, deliuer vp their children to famine, and let them drop away by the force of the sworde, and let their wiues be robbed of their children, and be widowes: and let their husbands be put to death, and let their yong men be slayne by the sword in the battell.

¹⁷ Therefore thus saith the Lord, Ye haue not obeyed mee, in proclayming freedome euery man to his brother, and euery man to his neighbour: beholde, I proclaime a libertie for you, saith the Lord, to the sworde, to the pestilence, and to the famine, and I will make you a terrour to all the kingdomes of the earth.

¹⁷ Or if I bring a sworde vpon this land, and say, Sword, go through the land, so that I destroy man and beast out of it, ¹⁸ Though these three men were in the mids thereof, As I liue, sayth the Lord God, they shall deliuer neither sonnes nor daughters, but they onely shall be deliuered themselues. ¹⁹ Or if I send a pestilence into this land, and powre out my wrath vpon it in blood, to destroy out of it man and beast, ²⁰ And though Noah, Daniel and Iob were in the middes of it, As I liue, sayth the Lord God, they shall deliuer neither sonne nor daughter: they shall but deliuer their owne soules by their righteousnes. ²¹ For thus saith the Lord God, Howe much more when I sende my foure sore iudgements vpon Ierusalem, euen the sworde, and famine, and the noysome beast and pestilence, to destroy man and beast out of it?

⁴ I will also stretch out mine hand vpon Iudah, and vpon all the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and I wil cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with ye Priestes, ⁵ And them that worship the hoste of heauen vpon the house tops, and them that worship and sweare by the Lord, and sweare by Malcham, ⁶ And them that are turned backe from the Lord, and those that haue not sought the Lord, nor inquired for him.

⁷ Should ye not heare the wordes, which the Lord hath cryed by the ministerie of the former Prophets when Ierusalem was inhabited, and in prosperitie, and the cities thereof round about her, when the South and the plaine was inhabited?

¹¹ But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their eares, that they should not heare. ¹² Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, least they should heare the Lawe and the wordes which the Lord of hostes sent in his spirit by the ministerie of ye former Prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the Lord of hostes. ¹³ Therefore it is come to passe, that as he cried, and they would not heare, so they cried, and I would not heare, sayth the Lord of hostes.

³⁴ And when the time of the fruite drewe neere, hee sent his seruants to the husbandmen to receiue the fruites thereof. ³⁵ And ye husbandmen tooke his seruants and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. ³⁶ Againe hee sent other seruants, moe then the first: and they did the like vnto them. ³⁷ But last of all he sent vnto them his owne sonne, saying, They will reuerence my sonne. ³⁸ But when the husbandmen saw the sonne, they saide among themselues, This is the heire: come, let vs kill him, and let vs take his inheritance. ³⁹ So they tooke him, and cast him out of the vineyarde, and slewe him. ⁴⁰ When therefore the Lord of the vineyarde shall come, what will hee doe to those husbandmen? ⁴¹ They saide vnto him, Hee will cruelly destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard vnto other husbandmen, which shall deliuer him the fruites in their seasons. ⁴² Iesus saide vnto them, Read ye neuer in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders refused, the same is made the head of the corner? This was the Lordes doing, and it is marueilous in our eyes. ⁴³ Therefore say I vnto you, The kingdome of God shalbe taken from you, and shalbe giuen to a nation, which shall bring foorth the fruites thereof.

³ And sent foorth his seruants, to call them that were bidde to the wedding, but they woulde not come.

⁷ But when the King heard it, he was wroth, and sent foorth his warriers, and destroyed those murtherers, and burnt vp their citie.

¹¹ He came vnto his owne, and his owne receiued him not.
