⁷ Surely the vineyard of the Lord of hostes is the house of Israel, and the men of Iudah are his pleasant plant, and hee looked for iudgement, but beholde oppression: for righteousnesse, but beholde a crying.

¹⁰ Againe he said, What hast thou done? the voyce of thy brothers blood cryeth vnto me from the earth.

²³ Then in processe of time, the King of Egypt dyed, and the children of Israel sighed for the bondage and cryed: and their crie for the bondage came vp vnto God. ²⁴ Then God heard their mone, and God remembred his couenant with Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob.

⁷ Then the Lord said, I haue surely seene the trouble of my people, which are in Egypt, and haue heard their crie, because of their taskemasters: for I knowe their sorowes.

²¹ Moreouer, thou shalt not do iniurie to a stranger, neither oppresse him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. ²² Ye shall not trouble any widowe, nor fatherlesse childe. ²³ If thou vexe or trouble such, and so he call and cry vnto me, I will surely heare his cry. ²⁴ Then shall my wrath be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wiues shall be widowes, and your children fatherlesse. ²⁵ If thou lende money to my people, that is, to the poore with thee, thou shalt not bee as an vsurer vnto him: yee shall not oppresse him with vsurie. ²⁶ If thou take thy neighbours rayment to pledge, thou shalt restore it vnto him before the sunne go downe: ²⁷ For that is his couering only, and this is his garment for his skin: wherin shall he sleepe? therefore when he crieth vnto mee, I will heare him: for I am mercifull.

⁹ Beware that there be not a wicked thought in thine heart, to say, The seuenth yeere, the yeere of freedome is at hand: therefore it grieueth thee to looke on thy poore brother, and thou giuest him nought, and he crie vnto the Lord against thee, so that sinne be in thee:

¹ Nowe there was a great crie of the people, and of their wiues against their brethren the Iewes. ² For there were that said, We, our sonnes and our daughters are many, therefore we take vp corne, that we may eate and liue. ³ And there were that saide, We must gage our landes, and our vineyardes, and our houses, and take vp corne for the famine. ⁴ There were also that said, We haue borowed money for the Kings tribute vpon our landes and our vineyardes. ⁵ And nowe our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, and our sonnes as their sonnes: and lo, we bring into subiection our sonnes and our daughters, as seruants, and there be of our daughters nowe in subiection, and there is no power in our handes: for other men haue our landes and our vineyardes.

³⁸ If my lande cry against me, or the furrowes thereof complayne together, ³⁹ If I haue eaten the fruites thereof without siluer: or if I haue grieued the soules of the masters thereof,

²⁸ So that they haue caused the voyce of the poore to come vnto him, and he hath heard the cry of the afflicted.

⁸ Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it. ⁹ Thou madest roume for it, and didest cause it to take roote, and it filled the land. ¹⁰ The mountaines were couered with the shadowe of it, and the boughes thereof were like the goodly cedars. ¹¹ Shee stretched out her branches vnto the Sea, and her boughes vnto the Riuer.

¹⁵ And the vineyard, that thy right hand hath planted, and the young vine, which thou madest strong for thy selfe.

¹¹ But the Lord deliteth in them that feare him, and attende vpon his mercie.

⁴ For the Lord hath pleasure in his people: he will make the meeke glorious by deliuerance.

¹³ He that stoppeth his eare at the crying of the poore, he shall also cry and not be heard.

⁶ Howe faire art thou, and howe pleasant art thou, O my loue, in pleasures!

⁶ From the sole of the foote vnto the head, there is nothing whole therein, but wounds, and swelling, and sores full of corruption: they haue not bene wrapped, nor bound vp, nor mollified with oyle.

¹⁴ The Lord shall enter into iudgement with the Ancients of his people and the princes thereof: for ye haue eaten vp the vineyarde: the spoyle of the poore is in your houses.

¹⁷ Therefore shall the Lord make the heades of the daughters of Zion balde, and the Lord shall discouer their secrete partes.

² And hee hedged it, and gathered out the stones of it, and he planted it with the best plants, and hee builte a towre in the middes thereof, and made a wine presse therein: then hee looked that it should bring foorth grapes: but it brought foorth wilde grapes.

⁶ Is not this the fasting, that I haue chosen, to loose the bandes of wickednes, to take off the heauie burdens, and to let the oppressed goe free, and that ye breake euery yoke? ⁷ Is it not to deale thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poore that wander, vnto thine house? when thou seest the naked, that thou couer him, and hide not thy selfe from thine owne flesh? ⁸ Then shall thy light breake foorth as the morning, and thine health shall grow speedily: thy righteousnes shall goe before thee, and the glorie of the Lord shall embrace thee.

⁵ For as a yong man marieth a virgine, so shall thy sonnes marry thee: and as a bridegrome is glad of the bride, so shall thy God reioyce ouer thee.

¹⁰ Many pastors haue destroyed my vineyarde, and troden my portion vnder foote: of my pleasant portion they haue made a desolate wildernesse.

⁸ He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requireth of thee: surely to doe iustly, and to loue mercie, and to humble thy selfe, to walke with thy God.

¹⁷ The Lord thy God in the middes of thee is mightie: hee will saue, hee will reioyce ouer thee with ioye: he will quiet himselfe in his loue: he will reioyce ouer thee with ioy.

⁹ Thus speaketh the Lord of hostes, saying, Execute true iudgement, and shewe mercy and compassion, euery man to his brother, ¹⁰ And oppresse not the widowe, nor the fatherles, the stranger nor the poore, and let none of you imagine euil against his brother in your heart. ¹¹ But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their eares, that they should not heare. ¹² Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, least they should heare the Lawe and the wordes which the Lord of hostes sent in his spirit by the ministerie of ye former Prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the Lord of hostes. ¹³ Therefore it is come to passe, that as he cried, and they would not heare, so they cried, and I would not heare, sayth the Lord of hostes. ¹⁴ But I scattered them among all the nations, whom they knew not: thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they layd the pleasant land waste.

⁸ Bring foorth therefore fruite worthy amendment of life. ⁹ And thinke not to say with your selues, We haue Abraham to our father: for I say vnto you, that God is able euen of these stones to raise vp children vnto Abraham. ¹⁰ And now also is the axe put to the roote of the trees: therfore euery tree which bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewen downe, and cast into ye fire.

²³ Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye tithe mynt, and annyse, and cummyn, and leaue the weightier matters of the law, as iudgement, and mercy and fidelitie. These ought ye to haue done, and not to haue left the other.

⁷ Now shall not God auenge his elect, which cry day and night vnto him, yea, though he suffer long for them?

² Euery branch that beareth not fruite in me, he taketh away: and euery one that beareth fruite, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruite.

⁸ Nay, yee your selues doe wrong, and doe harme, and that to your brethren. ⁹ Knowe yee not that the vnrighteous shall not inherite the kingdome of God? Be not deceiued: neither fornicatours, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor wantons, nor buggerers, ¹⁰ Nor theeues, nor couetous, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor extortioners shall inherite the kingdome of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you: but yee are washed, but yee are sanctified, but yee are iustified in the Name of the Lord Iesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

⁴ Behold, the hire of ye labourers, which haue reaped your fieldes (which is of you kept backe by fraude) cryeth, and the cryes of them which haue reaped, are entred into the eares of the Lord of hostes.

⁷ Litle children, let no man deceiue you: he that doeth righteousnes, is righteous, as hee is righteous. ⁸ He that comitteth sinne, is of the deuil: for the deuill sinneth from the beginning: for this purpose was made manifest that Sonne of God, that he might loose the workes of the deuil.
