⁵ Or will he feele my strength, that he may make peace with me, and be at one with me?

²⁴ And they answered Ioshua, and sayd, Because it was tolde thy seruants, that the Lord thy God had commanded his seruant Moses to giue you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land out of your sight, therefore we were exceeding sore afraid for our liues at the presence of you, and haue done this thing: ²⁵ And beholde nowe, we are in thine hand: doe as it seemeth good and right in thine eyes to doe vnto vs.

⁶ And the men of Gibeon sent vnto Ioshua, euen to the hoste to Gilgal, saying, Withdrawe not thine hand from thy seruants: come vp to vs quickly, and saue vs, and helpe vs: for all the Kings of the Amorites which dwell in the mountaines, are gathered together against vs.

²¹ Therefore acquaint thy selfe, I pray thee, with him, and make peace: thereby thou shalt haue prosperitie.

⁴ For thou hast bene a strength vnto the poore, euen a strength to the needie in his trouble, a refuge against the tempest, a shadow against the heate: for the blaste of the mightie is like a storme against the wall.

³ By an assured purpose wilt thou preserue perfite peace, because they trusted in thee. ⁴ Trust in the Lord for euer: for in the Lord God is strength for euermore.

²⁴ Surely he shall say, In the Lord haue I righteousnesse and strength: he shall come vnto him, and all that prouoke him, shall be ashamed.

² Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the sonne of man which layeth holde on it: hee that keepeth the Sabbath and polluteth it not, and keepeth his hand from doing any euill.

¹⁹ I create the fruite of the lips, to be peace: peace vnto them that are farre off, and to them that are neere, sayth the Lord: for I will heale him.

⁷ And there is none that calleth vpon thy Name, neither that stirreth vp himselfe to take holde of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from vs, and hast consumed vs because of our iniquities.

²⁵ And I will make with them a couenant of peace, and will cause the euil beastes to cease out of the land: and they shall dwel safely in the wildernesse, and sleepe in the woods. ²⁶ And I wil set them, as a blessing, euen roud about my mountaine: and I will cause rayne to come downe in due season, and there shalbe raine of blessing.

¹⁸ And in that day wil I make a couenant for them, with the wilde beasts, and with the foules of the heauen, and with that that creepeth vpon the earth: and I will breake the bowe, and the sworde and the battell out of the earth, and will make them to sleepe safely. ¹⁹ And I wil marry thee vnto me for euer: yea, I will marry thee vnto me in righteousnes, and in iudgement, and in mercy and in compassion. ²⁰ I will euen marry thee vnto me in faithfulnes, and thou shalt knowe the Lord.

³⁴ O Hierusalem, Hierusalem, which killest the Prophets, and stonest them that are sent to thee, howe often would I haue gathered thy children together, as the henne gathereth her brood vnder her wings, and ye would not!

³² Or els while hee is yet a great way off, hee sendeth an ambassage, and desireth peace.

⁴² Saying, O if thou haddest euen knowen at the least in this thy day those things, which belong vnto thy peace! but nowe are they hid from thine eyes.

¹ Then being iustified by faith, we haue peace toward God through our Lord Iesus Christ. ² By who also through faith, we haue had this accesse into this grace, wherein we stand, and reioyce vnder ye hope of the glory of God. ³ Neither that onely, but also we reioyce in tribulations, knowing that tribulation bringeth forth patience, ⁴ And patience experience, and experience hope, ⁵ And hope maketh not ashamed, because the loue of God is shed abroade in our heartes by the holy Ghost, which is giuen vnto vs. ⁶ For Christ, when we were yet of no strength, at his time died for the vngodly. ⁷ Doutles one will scarce die for a righteous man: but yet for a good man it may be that one dare die. ⁸ But God setteth out his loue towards vs, seeing that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for vs. ⁹ Much more then, being now iustified by his blood, we shalbe saued from wrath through him. ¹⁰ For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Sonne, much more being reconciled, we shalbe saued by his life,

¹⁹ For God was in Christ, and reconciled the world to himselfe, not imputing their sinnes vnto them, and hath committed to vs the word of reconciliation. ²⁰ Now then are we ambassadours for Christ: as though God did beseeche you through vs, we pray you in Christes steade, that ye be reconciled to God. ²¹ For he hath made him to be sinne for vs, which knewe no sinne, that we should be made the righteousnesse of God in him.

¹⁶ And that he might reconcile both vnto God in one body by his crosse, and slay hatred thereby, ¹⁷ And came, and preached peace to you which were afarre off, and to them that were neere.

²⁰ And through peace made by that blood of that his crosse, to reconcile to himselfe through him, through him, I say, all thinges, both which are in earth, and which are in heauen. ²¹ And you which were in times past strangers and enemies, because your mindes were set in euill workes, hath he nowe also reconciled,

¹⁸ That by two immutable things, wherein it is vnpossible that God should lye, we might haue strong consolation, which haue our refuge to lay holde vpon that hope that is set before vs,
