¹ In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Iudah, We haue a strong citie: saluation shall God set for walles and bulwarkes.

² The Lord is my strength and praise, and he is become my saluation. He is my God, and I will prepare him a tabernacle. he is my fathers God, and I will exalt him. ³ The Lord is a man of warre, his Name is Iehouah. ⁴ Pharaohs charets and his host hath he cast into the Sea: his chosen captaines also were drowned in the red Sea. ⁵ The depths haue couered them, they sanke to the bottome as a stone. ⁶ Thy right hande, O Lord, is glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath brused the enemie. ⁷ And in thy great glorie thou hast ouerthrowen them that rose against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as the stubble. ⁸ And by the blast of thy nostrels the waters were gathered, the floods stoode still as an heape, the depthes congealed together in the heart of the Sea. ⁹ The enemie sayd, I wil pursue, I wil ouertake them, I will deuide the spoyle, my lust shall bee satisfied vpon them, I will drawe my sworde, mine hand shall destroy them. ¹⁰ Thou blewest with thy winde, the Sea couered them, they sanke as leade in the mightie waters. ¹¹ Who is like vnto thee, O Lord, among the Gods! who is like thee so glorious in holinesse, fearefull in prayses, doing wonders! ¹² Thou stretchedst out thy right hande, the earth swallowed them. ¹³ Thou wilt by thy mercie cary this people, which thou deliueredst: thou wilt bring them in thy strength vnto thine holy habitation. ¹⁴ The people shall heare and be afraide: sorow shall come vpon the inhabitants of Palestina. ¹⁵ Then the dukes of Edom shalbe amased, and trembling shall come vpon the great men of Moab: all the inhabitantes of Canaan shall waxe faint hearted. ¹⁶ Feare and dread shall fall vpon them: because of the greatnesse of thine arme, they shalbe stil as a stone, till thy people passe, O Lord: til this people passe, which thou hast purchased. ¹⁷ Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountaine of thine inheritance, which is the place that thou hast prepared, O Lord, for to dwell in, euen the sanctuarie, O Lord, which thine hands shall establish. ¹⁸ The Lord shall reigne for euer and euer. ¹⁹ For Pharaohs horses went with his charets and horsemen into the Sea, and the Lord brought the waters of the Sea vpon them: but the children of Israel went on drie land in the middes of the Sea. ²⁰ And Miriam the prophetesse, sister of Aaron tooke a timbrell in her hande, and all the women came out after her with timbrels and daunces. ²¹ And Miriam answered the men, Sing yee vnto the Lord: for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath hee ouerthrowen in the Sea.

¹⁷ Then Israel sang this song, Rise vp well, sing ye vnto it.

¹ Then sang Deborah, and Barak the sonne of Abinoam the same day, saying, ² Praise ye the Lord for the auenging of Israel, and for the people that offred themselues willingly. ³ Heare, ye Kings, hearken ye princes: I, euen I will sing vnto the Lord: I will sing praise vnto the Lord God of Israel. ⁴ Lord, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou departedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heauens rained, the cloudes also dropped water. ⁵ The mountaines melted before the Lord, as did that Sinai before the Lord God of Israel. ⁶ In the dayes of Shamgar the sonne of Anath, in the dayes of Iael the hie wayes were vnoccupied, and the trauelers walked through by wayes. ⁷ The townes were not inhabited: they decayed, I say, in Israel, vntill I Deborah came vp, which rose vp a mother in Israel. ⁸ They chose new gods: then was warre in the gates. Was there a shielde or speare seene among fourtie thousand of Israel? ⁹ Mine heart is set on the gouernours of Israel, and on them that are willing among the people: praise ye the Lord. ¹⁰ Speake ye that ride on white asses, yee that dwel by Middin, and that walke by the way. ¹¹ For the noyse of the archers appaised among the drawers of water: there shall they rehearse the righteousnesse of the Lord, his righteousnesse of his townes in Israel: then did the people of the Lord goe downe to the gates. ¹² Vp Deborah, vp, arise, and sing a song: arise Barak, and leade thy captiuitie captiue, thou sonne of Abinoam. ¹³ For they that remaine, haue dominio ouer the mightie of the people: the Lord hath giuen me dominion ouer the strong. ¹⁴ Of Ephraim their roote arose against Amalek: and after thee, Beniamin shall fight against thy people, O Amalek: of Machir came rulers, and of Zebulun they that handle the pen of the writer. ¹⁵ And the Princes of Issachar were with Deborah, and Issachar, and also Barak: he was set on his feete in the valley: for the diuisions of Reuben were great thoughts of heart. ¹⁶ Why abodest thou among the sheepefolds, to heare the bleatings of the flockes? for the diuisions of Reuben were great thoughts of heart. ¹⁷ Gilead abode beyonde Iorden: and why doeth Dan remayne in shippes? Asher sate on the sea shoare, and taryed in his decayed places. ¹⁸ But the people of Zebulun and Naphtali haue ieopard their liues vnto the death in the hie places of the field. ¹⁹ The Kings came and fought: then fought the Kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo: they receiued no gaine of money. ²⁰ They fought from heauen, euen the starres in their courses fought against Sisera. ²¹ The Riuer Kishon swepe them away, that ancient riuer the riuer Kishon. O my soule, thou hast marched valiantly. ²² Then were the horsehooues broken with the oft beating together of their mightie men. ²³ Curse ye Meroz: (sayd the Angel of the Lord) curse the inhabitantes thereof, because they came not to helpe the Lord, to helpe the Lord against the mighty. ²⁴ Iael the wife of Heber the Kenite shall be blessed aboue other women: blessed shall she be aboue women dwelling in tentes. ²⁵ He asked water, and shee gaue him milke: she brought forth butter in a lordly dish. ²⁶ She put her hand to the naile, and her right hand to the workemans hammer: with the hammer smote she Sisera: she smote off his head, after she had wounded, and pearsed his temples. ²⁷ He bowed him downe at her feete, he fell downe, and lay still: at her feete hee bowed him downe, and fell: and when he had sunke downe, he lay there dead. ²⁸ The mother of Sisera looked out at a windowe, and cryed thorowe the lattesse, Why is his charet so long a comming? why tary the wheeles of his charets? ²⁹ Her wise ladies answered her, Yea. Shee answered her selfe with her owne wordes, ³⁰ Haue they not gotten, and they deuide the spoyle? euery man hath a mayde or two. Sisera hath a praye of diuers coloured garmentes, a pray of sundry colours made of needle worke: of diuers colours of needle worke on both sides, for the chiefe of the spoyle. ³¹ So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but they that loue him, shall be as the Sunne when he riseth in his might, and the lande had rest fourtie yeres.

¹ And Dauid spake the woordes of this song vnto the Lord, what time the Lord had deliuered him out of the handes of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul. ² And he sayd, The Lord is my rocke and my fortresse, and he that deliuereth mee. ³ God is my strength, in him will I trust: my shielde, and the horne of my saluation, my hie tower and my refuge: my Sauiour, thou hast saued me from violence. ⁴ I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praysed: so shall I be safe from mine enemies. ⁵ For the pangs of death haue compassed me: the floods of vngodlinesse haue made mee afrayd. ⁶ The sorowes of the graue compassed mee about: the snares of death ouertooke mee. ⁷ But in my tribulation did I call vpon the Lord, and crie to my God, and he did heare my voyce out of his temple, and my crie did enter into his eares. ⁸ Then the earth trembled and quaked: the foundations of the heauens mooued and shooke, because he was angrie. ⁹ Smoke went out at his nostrels, and consuming fire out of his mouth: coles were kindled thereat. ¹⁰ He bowed the heauens also, and came downe, and darkenes was vnder his feete. ¹¹ And he rode vpon Cherub and did flie, and hee was seene vpon the winges of the winde. ¹² And hee made darkenesse a Tabernacle round about him, euen the gatherings of waters, and the cloudes of the ayre. ¹³ At the brightnesse of his presence the coles of fire were kindled. ¹⁴ The Lord thundred from heauen, and the most hie gaue his voyce. ¹⁵ He shot arrowes also, and scattered them: to wit, lightning, and destroyed them. ¹⁶ The chanels also of the sea appeared, euen the foundations of the worlde were discouered by the rebuking of the Lord, and at the blast of the breath of his nostrels. ¹⁷ He sent from aboue, and tooke me: hee drewe me out of many waters. ¹⁸ He deliuered me from my strong enemie, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me. ¹⁹ They preuented me in the day of my calamitie, but the Lord was my stay, ²⁰ And brought me foorth into a large place: he deliuered me, because he fauoured me. ²¹ The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousnesse: according to the purenesse of mine handes he recompensed me. ²² For I kept the wayes of the Lord, and did not wickedly against my God. ²³ For all his lawes were before me, and his statutes: I did not depart therefrom. ²⁴ I was vpright also towarde him, and haue kept me from my wickednesse. ²⁵ Therefore the Lord did reward me according to my righteousnesse, according to my purenesse before his eyes. ²⁶ With the godly thou wilt shewe thy selfe godly: with the vpright man thou wilt shew thy selfe vpright. ²⁷ With the pure thou wilt shewe thy selfe pure, and with the frowarde thou wilt shew thy selfe frowarde. ²⁸ Thus thou wilt saue the poore people: but thine eyes are vpon the hautie to humble them. ²⁹ Surely thou art my light, O Lord: and the Lord will lighten my darkenes. ³⁰ For by thee haue I broken through an hoste, and by my God haue I leaped ouer a wall. ³¹ The way of God is vncorrupt: the word of the Lord is tryed in the fire: he is a shield to all that trust in him. ³² For who is God besides the Lord? and who is mightie, saue our God? ³³ God is my strength in battel, and maketh my way vpright. ³⁴ He maketh my feete like hindes feete, and hath set me vpon mine hie places. ³⁵ He teacheth mine handes to fight, so that a bowe of brasse is broken with mine armes. ³⁶ Thou hast also giuen me the shield of thy saluation, and thy louing kindnesse hath caused me to increase. ³⁷ Thou hast inlarged my steppes vnder me, and mine heeles haue not slid. ³⁸ I haue pursued mine enemies and destroyed them, and haue not turned againe vntill I had consumed them. ³⁹ Yea, I haue consumed them and thrust them through, and they shall not arise, but shall fall vnder my feete. ⁴⁰ For thou hast girded me with power to battell, and them that arose against me, hast thou subdued vnder me. ⁴¹ And thou hast giuen me the neckes of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me. ⁴² They looked about, but there was none to saue them, euen vnto the Lord, but he answered them not. ⁴³ Then did I beate them as small as the dust of the earth: I did treade them flat as the clay of the streete, and did spread them abroad. ⁴⁴ Thou hast also deliuered me from the contentions of my people: thou hast preserued me to be the head ouer nations: the people which I knewe not, doe serue me. ⁴⁵ Strangers shalbe in subiection to me: assoone as they heare, they shall obey me. ⁴⁶ Strangers shall shrinke away, and feare in their priuie chambers. ⁴⁷ Let the Lord liue, and blessed be my strength: and God, euen the force of my saluation be exalted. ⁴⁸ It is God that giueth me power to reuenge me, and subdue the people vnder me, ⁴⁹ And rescueth me from mine enemies: (thou also hast lift me vp from them that rose against me, thou hast deliuered me from the cruell man. ⁵⁰ Therefore I will praise thee, O Lord amog the nations, and will sing vnto thy Name) ⁵¹ He is the tower of saluation for his King, and sheweth mercie to his anointed, euen to Dauid, and to his seede for euer.

¹¹ Thus they sang when they gaue prayse, and when they gaue thankes vnto the Lord, For he is good, for his mercie endureth for euer toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shoute, when they praysed the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was layed.

²¹ Blessed be the Lord: for hee hath shewed his marueilous kindenesse toward me in a strong citie.

¹² Compasse about Zion, and goe round about it, and tell the towres thereof.

³ Then they that ledde vs captiues, required of vs songs and mirth, when wee had hanged vp our harpes, saying, Sing vs one of the songs of Zion. ⁴ Howe shall we sing, said we, a song of the Lord in a strange land?

¹¹ The hie looke of man shall be humbled, and the loftinesse of men shalbe abased, and the Lord onely shall be exalted in that day.

²⁰ At that day shall man cast away his siluer idoles, and his golden idoles (which they had made themselues to worship them) to the mowles and to the backes,

¹ Now will I sing to my beloued a song of my beloued to his vineyarde, My beloued had a vineyarde in a very fruitefull hill,

¹ And thou shalt say in that day, O Lord, I will prayse thee: though thou wast angrie with me, thy wrath is turned away, and thou comfortest me.

²¹ And in that day shall the Lord visite the hoste aboue that is on hie, euen the Kinges of the world that are vpon the earth. ²² And they shall be gathered together, as the prisoners in the pit: and they shall be shut vp in the prison, and after many daies shall they be visited. ²³ Then the moone shall be abashed, and the sunne ashamed, when the Lord of hostes shall reigne in mount Zion and in Ierusalem: and glory shalbe before his ancient men.

⁹ And in that day shall men say, Loe, this is our God: we haue waited for him, and he wil saue vs. This is the Lord, we haue waited for him: we will reioyce and be ioyfull in his saluation.

¹ In that day the Lord with his sore and great and mightie sword shall visite Liuiathan, that pearcing serpent, euen Liuiathan, that crooked serpent, and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea. ² In that daye sing of the vineyarde of redde wine.

¹⁸ Violence shall no more be heard of in thy land, neither desolation, nor destruction within thy borders: but thou shalt call saluation, thy walles, and praise, thy gates.

¹¹ Beholde, the Lord hath proclaimed vnto the endes of the world: tell the daughter Zion, Beholde, thy Sauiour commeth: beholde, his wages is with him, and his worke is before him.

¹¹ The voyce of ioy and the voyce of gladnes, the voyce of the bridegrome, and the voyce of the bride, the voyce of them that shall say, Prayse the Lord of hostes, because the Lord is good: for his mercy endureth for euer, and of them that offer the sacrifice of prayse in the House of the Lord, for I will cause to returne the captiuitie of the land, as at the first, sayth the Lord.

⁵ For I, saith the Lord, will be vnto her a wall of fire round about, and wil be the glory in the middes of her.

¹⁸ And I say also vnto thee, that thou art Peter, and vpon this rocke I will builde my Church: and ye gates of hell shall not ouercome it.

¹⁹ Speaking vnto your selues in psalmes, and hymnes, and spirituall songs, singing, and making melodie to the Lord in your hearts, ²⁰ Giuing thankes alwaies for all thinges vnto God euen the Father, in the Name of our Lord Iesus Christ,

¹ And after these things I heard a great voyce of a great multitude in heauen, saying, Hallelu-iah, saluation, and glorie, and honour, and power be to the Lord our God. ² For true and righteous are his iudgements: for he hath condemned that great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath auenged the blood of his seruants shed by her hand. ³ And againe they saide, Hallelu-iah: and that her smoke rose vp for euermore. ⁴ And the foure and twentie Elders, and the foure beastes fell downe, and worshipped God that sate on the throne, saying, Amen, Hallelu-iah. ⁵ Then a voyce came out of the throne, saying, Prayse our God, all ye his seruants, and ye that feare him, both small and great. ⁶ And I heard like a voyce of a great multitude, and as the voyce of many waters, and as the voyce of strong thundrings, saying, Hallelu-iah: for the Lord that God that almightie God hath reigned. ⁷ Let vs be glad and reioyce, and giue glory to him: for the marriage of that Lambe is come, and his wife hath made her selfe ready.

¹² And had a great wall and hie, and had twelue gates, and at the gates twelue Angels, and the names written, which are the twelue tribes of the children of Israel. ¹³ On the East part there were three gates, and on the Northside three gates, on the Southside three gates, and on the Westside three gates. ¹⁴ And the wall of the citie had twelue foundations, and in them the Names of the Lambes twelue Apostles. ¹⁵ And hee that talked with mee, had a golden reede, to measure the citie withall, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. ¹⁶ And the citie laie foure square, and the length is as large as the bredth of it, and he measured the citie with the reede, twelue thousande furlongs: and the length, and the bredth, and the height of it are equall. ¹⁷ And hee measured the wall thereof, an hundreth fourtie and foure cubites, by the measure of man, that is, of the Angell. ¹⁸ And ye building of the wall of it was of Iasper: and the citie was pure golde, like vnto cleare glasse. ¹⁹ And the foundations of the wall of ye city were garnished with all maner of precious stones: the first foundation was Iasper: the second of Saphire: the third of a Chalcedonie: the fourth of an Emeraude: ²⁰ The fift of a Sardonix: the sixt of a Sardius: the seueth of a Chrysolite: the eight of a Beryl: the ninth of a Topaze: the tenth of a Chrysoprasus: the eleuenth of a Iacynth: the twelfth an Amethyst. ²¹ And the twelue gates were twelue pearles, and euery gate is of one pearle, and the streete of the citie is pure golde, as shining glasse. ²² And I sawe no Temple therein: for the Lord God almightie and the Lambe are the Temple of it.
