³ They make the King glad with their wickednesse, and the princes with their lies.

⁶ Then the King of Israel gathered the prophets vpon a foure hundreth men, and said vnto them, Shal I go against Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I let it alone? And they said, Go vp: for ye Lord shall deliuer it into the hands of the King.

¹³ And the messenger that was gone to call Michaiah spake vnto him, saying, Beholde now, the wordes of the prophets declare good vnto the King with one accorde: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like the worde of one of them, and speake thou good.

³¹ The Prophets prophesie lies, and ye Priests receiue giftes in their handes, and my people delite therein. What will ye then doe in the ende thereof?

² Oh, that I had in the wildernes a cottage of wayfaring men, that I might leaue my people, and go from them: for they be all adulterers and an assembly of rebels,

¹ And that same yeere in the beginning of the reigne of Zedekiah King of Iudah in the fourth yeere, and in the fifth moneth Hananiah the sonne of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spake to mee in the House of the Lord in the presence of the Priestes, and of all the people, and said, ² Thus speaketh the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, saying, I haue broken the yoke of the King of Babel. ³ Within two yeeres space I will bring into this place all the vessels of the Lords House, that Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel tooke away from this place, and caried them into Babel. ⁴ And I will bring againe to this place Ieconiah the sonne of Iehoiakim King of Iudah, with all them that were caried away captiue of Iudah, and went into Babel, saith the Lord: for I will breake the yoke of the King of Babel.

¹⁹ Where are nowe your prophets, which prophecied vnto you, saying, The King of Babel shall not come against you, nor against this land?

² By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and whoring they breake out, and blood toucheth blood.

¹¹ Ephraim is oppressed, and broken in iudgement, because he willingly walked after the commandement.

⁵ This is the day of our King: the princes haue made him sicke with flagons of wine: he stretcheth out his hand to scorners.

¹⁰ Then Amaziah the Priest of Beth-el sent to Ieroboam King of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the middes of the house of Israel: the lande is not able to beare all his wordes. ¹¹ For thus Amos saith, Ieroboam shall die by the sworde, and Israel shalbe led away captiue out of their owne land. ¹² Also Amaziah sayde vnto Amos, O thou the Seer, goe, flee thou away into the land of Iudah, and there eate thy bread and prophecie there. ¹³ But prophecie no more at Beth-el: for it is the Kings chappel, and it is the Kings court.

¹⁶ For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the maner of the house of Ahab, and ye walke in their counsels, that I should make thee waste, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall beare the reproche of my people.

³ To make good for the euil of their hands, the prince asked, and the iudge iudgeth for a reward: therefore the great man he speaketh out the corruption of his soule: so they wrapt it vp.

⁵ They are of this worlde, therefore speake they of this world, and this world heareth them.
