¹⁴ But strong meate belongeth to them that are of age, which through long custome haue their wits exercised, to discerne both good and euill.

⁵ But God doeth knowe, that when ye shall eate thereof, your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and euill.

¹⁷ Therefore thine handmaid sayd, The word of my lord the King shall now be comfortable: for my lorde the King is euen as an Angel of God in hearing of good and bad: therefore the Lord thy God be with thee.

⁹ Giue therefore vnto thy seruant an vnderstanding heart, to iudge thy people, that I may discerne betweene good and bad: for who is able to iudge this thy mightie people?

¹¹ And God sayde vnto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thy selfe long life, neyther hast asked riches for thy selfe, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thy selfe vnderstanding to heare iudgement,

¹¹ Doeth not the eares discerne the words? and the mouth taste meate for it selfe?

³ For the eare tryeth the words, as the mouth tasteth meate.

¹⁰³ Howe sweete are thy promises vnto my mouth! yea, more then hony vnto my mouth.

³ Drawe me: we will runne after thee: the King hath brought me into his chabers: we will reioyce and be glad in thee: we will remember thy loue more then wine: the righteous do loue thee.

³ Like the apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my welbeloued among the sonnes of men: vnder his shadow had I delite, and sate downe: and his fruite was sweete vnto my mouth.

¹⁵ Butter and hony shall he eate, till he haue knowledge to refuse the euill, and to chuse the good.

⁴⁸ Ye shall therefore be perfit, as your Father which is in heauen, is perfite.

²² The light of the body is the eye: if then thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be light. ²³ But if thine eye be wicked, then all thy body shalbe darke. Wherefore if the light that is in thee, be darkenes, howe great is that darkenesse?

¹ Him that is weake in the faith, receiue vnto you, but not for controuersies of disputations.

⁶ And we speake wisedome among them that are perfect: not the wisedome of this world, neither of the princes of this world, which come to nought.

¹⁴ But the naturall man perceiueth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishnesse vnto him: neither can hee knowe them, because they are spiritually discerned. ¹⁵ But hee that is spirituall, discerneth all things: yet he himselfe is iudged of no man.

¹⁸ That the eyes of your vnderstanding may be lightened, that ye may knowe what the hope is of his calling, and what the riches of his glorious inheritance is in the Saints,

¹³ Till we all meete together (in the vnitie of faith and that acknowledging of the Sonne of God) vnto a perfite man, and vnto the measure of the age of the fulnesse of Christ,

⁹ And this I pray, that your loue may abound, yet more and more in knowledge, and in all iudgement, ¹⁰ That ye may alowe those things which are best, that ye may be pure, and without offence vntill the day of Christ,

¹⁵ Let vs therefore as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if yee be otherwise minded, God shall reueile euen the same vnto you.

²¹ Try all things, and keepe that which is good.

² For in many things we sinne all. If any man sinne not in word, he is a perfect man, and able to bridle all the body.
